Yes, I saw that. The narrative keeps hinting he is a sleeper spy sent by the Xie family to infiltrate the general's military camp. I was just speculating how he managed to be accepted there - under a different name which is also suggestive.

I think that beating scene was staged and is how he infiltrated her father's military camp. He is of course really the 9th young master of the Xie family.

I am also kind of on the fence. I like the political intrigue. But tbh I am struggling to like the FL - she was dumb and love brained and now is revenge driven and power hungry. And likely still dumb.

They are both voiced by VAs and tbh the dubbing job is very mediocre. The lines are not syncing to the lip movements and facial expressions. Both actors could have done a better job using their original voices.

I think as long as she resigns when the kid grows up it’s fine. But seems to me she really loves the power trip she is on…
