I had the exact same thought. Gender reversed slow slicing followed by wall jumping it is then.
Well at least her oath was caveated "As long as I am Grand Princess, I will not...." His preface was "In this life I will not..." Bc men really are not that sharp...

I am just being cheeky about the plot "rewind". All these second chance dramas start the same way and have the FL vowing revenge over a heinous act that hasn't happened yet but they "know" bc they got a do over. This kind of defence in a murder trial will get immediately thrown out of court.

Title Ashes to Crown Spoiler
I can never understand c-drama revenge logic? How does one take revenge for a crime not yet committed?🧐Plot…
There is nothing wrong with Xun. He genuinely loves her and is a harmless, powerless, hostage prince. But this gal had an overactive imagination, bridal nerves and dreamed a bat shit crazy mad, bad dream and turned into an angry, revenge driven, scheming bloodthirsty shrew when she woke up. Had to be zip tied and committed. They could have lived HEA. Very sad. 😂

Ah, ok... well she was much better in that IMHO but she is actually a very good actress, this was just not her…
There is allegedly a recut version that is less boring. You could try that.

He is the ML in Love in the Desert or something like that. Its a mind bogglingly bad drama. Steer clear.

Title Zhan Zhao Adventures Spoiler
When Zhan Zhao is about to kill the Prince, how come he's pierced by an arrow?? Was that Bai Yu Tang? Did Zhan…
I think there were for sure some cut scenes, probably due to censorship or as part of the IP licensing agreement. They probably didn't show BYT alive again until the after credits bc he is supposed to die in that trap in the original novel.

I think its more likely BYT was the one who killed XY with a crossbow he retrieved from the trap. He was maimed so it would have been preferable for him to fight with that over a close range weapon like a sword. Song dynasty dealt very harsh punishment to anyone who kills royalty, no matter the provocation. That's why XY was so confident ZZ wouldn't dare cut him down. BYT is the rat, the "trickier" fighter of the two. He cleverly figured out that it was safest for XY to be "killed by his own mechanism". Someone just had to aim it right at him. I also thought it was interesting that none of them killed SJZ, who is also descended from the imperial line.

Title Zhan Zhao Adventures Spoiler
I think you are supposed to conclude that BYT had an epiphany about the cure when he was trapped and tried to…
Yeah I went back and re-watched some parts - SJZ killed the envoy not bc of an insult but bc they needed to cover up after the loss of the gold mine, which means Xiangyang wang can't fulfill his part of the agreement with Xixia. The envoy was threatening to expose all of this and their incompetence to Xixia. So as @Totoro888, the agreement was already on the way to Xixia. They just needed to kill the envoy before he went back to Xixia to rat them out. SJZ was essentially ordered by his father to do this. The old man showed not one whit of affection when he was leaving or remorse when SJZ obviously failed. He probably has other legitimate sons and sacrificed SJZ as easily as he sacrificed all his other pawns. The sad f*ck couldn't even beat Linglong - he had no chance against the envoy.

Yeah the final episode plot was not as tight as I would have liked. I just thought it made zero sense or was out of character for Shao Jizu to kill the envoy out of anger over an insult. And it wasn’t an immediate hot blooded rash reaction it was planned the moment he diverted his escort. I wondered whether the father and son also meant to retrieve the document before it fell into ZZ’s hands. As for how Ming Zhu’er happened to lay his hands on it, that was just plot convenience. This is not the kind of document whoever was entrusted with it just waves around casually in a tea house. That’s why I thought the envoy may have let one of his low level escorts hang on to it while en route. But since the scenes were never shown I guess we just have to accept the lucky coincidence.

This drama was doing good until the last episode, the ending was a tad confusing and not neatly done imo. And…
I think they used up all their fighting budget by then. Also, BYT technically dies in the novel in that scene and I think they wanted to respect the original work.
