Well I am fine with any ending that makes sense. And Chinese myths tend to have bittersweet endings like they turn into butterflies and fly away or someone turns into a mountain or gets sent to the moon. I am fine with any of those.

It is hinted many times she is at least part demon - she fell into the Wuyou realm as a child when she met Manying. This was before Xuanye lost his memory so he was still a demon child wandering around the demon realm. If Banxia were not at least part demon she wouldn't be able to get into that realm. Other clues are she dares walk in the forest alone at night, she can interact with the mirror and the demon cat, her dad seems to have many demon buddies and demon enemies and she somehow has a pass to the Underground City. I also think from a storytelling POV if the ML is a demon and she is just a mortal then she will age and die long before him. Doesn't make for that good of a fairytale.

Yeah and nowadays I have no qualms dropping dramas I don't like.

Unfortunately the screenwriter is Xiao Xiang Dong Er, the writer of the Princess Agents novel that got in trouble for plagiarism. She is an incredibly long winded writer who digresses and rambles on forever. I only read the super long and meandering book bc the drama was incomplete. Her lazy, rambling and boring writing style shows in this screenplay as well. She isn't the worse screenwriter out there but I am not a fan of her writing style.

Banxia is most likely a half demon. I am going to guess her mother is quite likely the 9-tailed fox demon that Uncle shifu was in love with. That poster you are talking about is definitely not a rabbit. It is either a fox or some kind of leopard or feline like furry animal with slanty eyes.

I agree with you in general for pure romance dramas you should expect kiss scenes. All I am saying is that this is not that and so I am all good even if we don’t get one.

The buck stops with the director. Scriptwriters have very little say in cdramas. With a very few exceptions, they get overriden by the directors and even actors all the time. In any case this does look expensive and I hope it lands well but I just had a slinking feeling when I saw who directed it.
