Done watching this drama. What a good drama to end my 2024. The last bit successfully made me curious and looking…
That is probably bc compared to Tang dynasty, Song dynasty had a bunch of pretty boring emperors. And they actively suppressed and restricted women so its quite difficult to write good female themed stories set in this period. Unless of course like Riverside Code they focus on commoners.

Ep 15: Lei Changtian
I can't believe Lao Chu bothered to save him. The guy is despicable and so far the only truly evil character in the story so far.

Yes the salt monopoly has been a feature of several historical dramas It’s hard to say what S2 will bring bc the Jurchens should start to invade Song soon.

I like your review a lot. Just do a grammar check on the entire thing. It’s got a few beeps here and there.…

Thank you. 🥰🌸💕I'm not super keen on deadly games dramas, they are definitely out of my comfort zone.
That was the first and the last of any death games for me!.😅😂

She shot his dad and the only thing she can talk about is the money??? Where is her heart?
I think there is more to what happened that night. Like who killed the police? What if Liu Bo wasn't the thief he just went after them or found them and took the money for his son?

I think so. Emperors were often bullied by rich and powerful noble families and/or generals throughout history. Wouldn't be shocking he would want to quietly remove him. Not to mention he seemed to be celebrating his demise with Zhao Li.

I agree with you. My guess is also that it has to be the emperor. The jade ring is a bit of a red herring to distract from what looks like a dragon robe that he is wearing. Only the emperor can wear that golden yellow, no one else would dare it is the exclusive color of the emperor during Song dynasty.

Through its thousands of years of history, there has been pointed social commentary and thinly veiled criticism via poetry, art and literature in China. This long tradition has survived countless dynasties and regimes. In fact self-criticism was even a cornerstone of Mao's regime! Chinese people are inherently rebellious and critical and are not easily silenced or duped by propaganda, Chinese and Western alike. Social critique and commentary remains vibrant and thrives across numerous forms of media. For people who consume Chinese media regularly, this is hardly a matter of first impression.

Tyvm, Song Han's arc really sank the drama for me. They even gave them a song!🤦🏻‍♀️
