I am no fan of dubbing either, it is a sad consequence of China's idol culture that there are so many actors who can't deliver their own lines for all kinds of reasons including heavy traces of local dialects and lack of proper training. Most of them wouldn't get jobs in other countries and most of them can't get jobs on the big screen in China.

I only got to ep 7. I think they are supposed to go in and out of dreams and/or past lives. It’s not easy to convey and not well executed at all…

I didn't like the sequel as much. The first half is awesome but its biographical and by the time Sima Yi gets old, all the interesting characters in his life die off. Its kind of like after Cao Cao dies its just less interesting except it is Zhuge Liang in the sequel.

By Dumas take I mean its a highly fictionalised and dramatised version of history.

Records from this period of history is not that reliable but according to most accounts, she was very beautiful and Cao Pi saw her and wanted to marry her even though she was the wife of his defeated enemy. Even her death is quite controversial and there are different accounts of it. But later on he did favor and make Guo his empress. Btw the actress Tan Yixin who plays Empress Guo is Zhang Ruoyun's wife. She is rarely in dramas anymore.

Tan Jianci has a bigger role in the sequel Growling Tiger. And he plays Cao Pi in Secret of Three Kingdoms, which is a bit of Dumas take on this period in history.

I think those were fixed but apparently his father is not well and he wants to spend time with him.

Tyvm. 😘Yu Hewei is just a phenomenal actor, his Cao Cao has to be one of my favorites for a role that many other veteran actors have delivered well.

Cheng Yi dubbed himself in MLC and it worked bc he was playing a sickly character. He sounds completely different in L&R. ZWY sounds very alpha in LYF but he sounds very low key in TRON. It’s very subtle but noticeable. Yu Shuxin’s current drama is getting great reviews but her baby voice is a hard no for me. 🙄😂

Tyvm. Its true that people who are suffering tend to be focused on themselves. Its hard to fault them for it. Enjoy the drama.

Yes I think Zhang Jinran will get paired up with Yue Yunxiu. I hope Yan Zijing adopts her as his sister. Then they can all be in-laws. I actually wouldn't mind if Cui Shijiu and Zheng Zhiheng end up as an almost villainous couple that is frenemies with them.
