I think that was on his casual Weibo reply. But I the presser was not much better. I watched a clip and it was…
Yes the Canto people always prefer to speak their own dialect. That is why actors like Xu Kai have to be dubbed all the time,. The southern Chinese are so rebellious they refuse to kowtow to the Mandarins. Fujianese are like that too, still insist on speaking their dialect even if their Mandarin is very perfect. But in Beijing its different they are very snobbish about proper Mandarin. If you can't speak it well they think you are uneducated and not worthy engaging with. My Beijing friends refuse to watch Longest Day in Changán bc they said Jackson Yee (who is another Southern boy) speaks terrible peasant type Mandarin he couldn't play an elite and highly educated prodigy from the capital.🤱🏻 That's why my company was very insistent we all learn proper standard Mandarin. I had Mainland colleagues in my classes as well who also had obvious local dialects.😅😂😂

I am guessing Sunday.
Possible but it failed. Young people in China mostly watch short dramas and only chase idols. That is why we have a whole generation of so many bad Chinese so called actors who can't even speak their own lines. The old TVB dramas everyone was live recorded there was no such thing as dubbing or dubbing by professional voice actors unless it was in another dialect or language.

Not your style of drama?
I thought the story was interesting but I don't like any of the main characters and the execution is bland. I almost wish it were bad but its not. It is worse than bad, its just boring. Doesn't draw me in to continue so I just click on it when I am really bored. Its just my viewing experience, obviously good for other people who do enjoy it.

I think it has done alright. I mean its Jin Yong so many fans will watch even if its not that good. But I think the ratings won't be good. All in though I think Tencent will make decent money on it. Its quite obvious the budget isn't high - besides ZYW there are no A list actors or expensive idols. A lot of it was shot in studio behind a green scene and there are no spectacular sets and not many changes of costume for any of the main characters and a shabbily dressed Huang Yaoshi to boot!

even the double someone rate 1. let alone this drama.
Well I don't rule out the drama can deviate from the novel so I was watching on its own merits. I just find watching a main character who thinks the whole world revolves around them kind of distasteful and boring whether or not they are redeemable so I have stalled out for now. All I am trying to say is LOTS of women don't like this show either its not a gender thing although I would be quite surprised if any men actually do like it. That is not to say you can't rate this anything you think it deserves. Its your rating idk why people think they have a right to bully others into rating things their way.

Lol - I am not a man but I don't like Li Rong either so please don't call this a made for women drama. Lots of the gals I like chatting with have dropped this already which you can see by just scrolling through the main feed. Li Rong is really hard to like she is self-centered, conceited, vain, stupid and completely lacking in EQ and empathy. She does not deserve the patience and support of the PWX. The fact that I can't see any redeeming value to her character after so many episodes also downgrades PWX for me. He can do so much better. If I were him and had a second chance, I would run as fast and as far away as possible. So many woman in the kingdom, no need to kiss her highness' boots. All that said, I think she is realistic - she is a princess after all. They are not brought up to give a shit about other people's feelings!

Episode 31, 32 ???
I don't think the MDL airing calendar is correct. The official calendar shows that ep 29 and 30 air today and tomorrow. So 31 and 32 probably only come over the weekend/next week.

Lmao - I think so... but I worked for a snotty US bank that insisted I erase it so that I can be more effective in meetings! And since they paid for my classes I was like OK-la!!!! 😅 The funniest part was my biggest client was from Guangdong and once he found out I was Canto he insisted on speaking Canto with me!!!

This was over-interpreted by some KOL. Zhou Yi Wei then released his explanation regarding this, you should read…
Oh if that is what it is I already read that - its below my original post and seems like a walk-back. @MyLangyaList posted the whole clip below which doesn't sound as bad as the blogger made it out to be but is far from flattering. The body language of the directors is hilarious they are all turning away from him.

I don't mind they rush through the main characters bc we know them so well already. I am keen to see how they…
I couldn't agree more. I just watched it to pass time but I am quite interested in the next 4 chapters.

Heheh.... I had a Mandarin teacher who banned me from watching Canto shows for years bc I couldn't kick my Canto accent.

Ah thx for the clip I haven't had a chance to look for it - I don't think its the full press release the article/weibo is referring to. But essentially what ZYW says is he signed up to just 东邪西毒 Eastern Heretic Western Venom and he had the impression it was going to be like WKW's Ashes of Time (Chinese title is the same 东邪西毒). I didn't watch Ashes of Time but I think it was kind of like a WKW fan fiction prequel to LOCH that fills in the blanks Jin Yong left and kind of humanizes and explains Ouyang Feng by exploring his younger self. So it looks like that was the drama ZYW signed up to make, a prequel that fills in the blanks on a young Huang Yaoshi (and Ouyang Feng) and what happened to him when he was growing up. Now Jin Yong himself among the 5 Greats actually already relatively fully discussed Huang Yaoshi, Yideng and Ouyang Feng. The ones he neglected the most were Hong Qigong and Wang Chongyang. In any case, putting your clip and the Weibo together, it seems ZYW thought that was all he was shooting. He did not expect he would have to participate in Hot Blooded and Duel on Mount Hua as well. The Weibo hints he is not that happy either with how the 东邪西毒/Eastern Heretic part turned out but he doesn't directly say so in your clip only in the Weibo article. In the clip however he could be indirectly suggesting he may have been tricked into filming more than he thought. It kind of hints that he wasn't that happy with the cliff note version of Hot Blooded/Mount Hua or that he would never have agreed to be part of yet another LOCH adaptation. I am sure he is being pressured to walk back his comments.

Random thought: How many goats have to die to form the ladder up the mountain? Poor goats…
No animals were harmed in this production.
