It really is a BAD script. This is literally a military focused drama and the scriptwriter must have some knowledge…
Lol - I am still in the middle of LYF so realistically I am not gonna get to this book.

There won’t be season 2 after this disaster masterclass
I believe its filmed already. It is just a matter whether they want to spend the$$$ on post production.

Indeed - I think he is a good villain. I don't think he minds having an heir like Ning who is too ignorant to ever be a threat to him or to interfere with his rule. He just doesn't want her to marry someone powerful and/or smart. I assume she doesn't get to assume power until he dies.

CX is a very cunning and manipulative villain. All of his dialogues have multiple meanings and they are extremely well written. Xiu is equally smart and his dialogues also contain many layers of meaning. I don't mind all the talking scenes when it comes to the two of them bc their conversations are really well written. I think as long as Xiu remains effectively exiled to YZ, CX will leave him alone. But he absolutely cannot marry Ning (which I think makes everyone here happy).

The way things are playing out, CanXing won't be left with a choice anymore. The YZ regiments are all low key revolting /dragging their feet and YZ is all that stands between Zichuan and the North. Its GOT - if the Wall falls all of Westeros falls so they need to stop fighting each other. If you go back and listen to CX's conversations with Xiu, there is a lot of double talk or words behind the words. Xiu has asked him to let him go back to YZ and he has agreed to give up Ning/his future in the capital. CX has more or less accepted that proposal but he sent him to a remote outpost of YZ instead. That is why Ning panicked and ran after Xiu. She also guessed the unspoken bargain Xiu has made with her uncle. Xiu will not revolt against CX bc Ge's final message to him is Zichuan is all that matters. He has told Xiu to let go of the fact that CX demanded his death and focus on the bigger picture bc if Zichuan falls, the North Clan, which I guess are demons in the book take over. So he is fighting for mankind so to speak. I guess in the drama they are all humans but just a different race. CX knows that Xiu is no threat to him - Xiu already assured him of that when he said there are no more witnesses/no one will know what happened anymore. CX is just being petty and vindictive but ultimately he will let Xiu take control of YZ.

Four more ep to end this drama, I am guessing we will see the three brothers splitting, becoming enemy (or maybe…
I think that for S1 there is only enough time for maybe Xiu or Xiu+Si Yilin hunting down Lei Hong and taking back YZ/putting down the rebellion there. I doubt Xiu marries Ning - all of the recent episodes show how they are both realizing how incompatible they are. I suspect Xiu ships her back to her uncle and stays on in YZ to take over Ge. The whole reason there is so much unrest to begin with is without Ge, there is no strong commander to keep the tribes from revolting. Food is already scarce bc of the constant wars and the military theft of food became rampant without a strong commander. Of course the tribes revolted or became bandits, they can't feed themselves. Canxing should not have sidelined Xiu, he was the obvious successor to Ge.

I saw a few seconds and I really didn't like it. Fans of the IP really hate that scene. Ah Xiu never touches Ning…
You got to give it to iQiyi - Always finding new and creative ways to disgust fans!

I blame the writers, too. It feels like she is taking a similar trajectory to Zhao Lusi's character Leyan in The…
Unpopular opinion but I really couldn't stand Leyan's sniveling either. Except now Ning makes me look back on that almost fondly.

Diabetes that leads to meningitis!!!
Agree they should have done more world building. iQiyi does seem to have this problem lately of adding sugar into all of their dramas.

Or horses and sadly no annoying, childish princesses either.
This is c-drama remember? They only kill-off characters we LIKE.

I just think they literally have no budget and it shows. Instead of filming war or scenes, those are told in narration and then they film tons of just plain stupid romance scenes.

Hmmm…if that’s the director’s way of showing romance and sex appeal, I am not getting it.😅 But then it’s…
The way the writing is going, I felt real fear that Xiu would be overwhelmed and propose to her then and there!!!

Yeah with so few episodes and more important events unfolding I can't believe they are wasting time on her to give her a growing up arc??? It doesn't just make Di Lin look stupid, it makes his wife look really dumb dumb too. Like now she is having an Oh Shit moment maybe I shouldn't have enabled her to go out to play??? How is this airhead the wife of the head spy??

Sigh! They should have called this 宁/Ningchuan instead of 紫/Zichuan.

The original title of this drama is King of Light in Zichuan and I just assume Zichuan Xiu is the titular character.

I genuinely didn't think you were implying anything I am just saying I don't think the issue is bc it is complex. And I think its totally fine for people to like different dramas. Their time, they should spend it how they like.
