Yeah I was really expecting more bc it’s based on a novel and the screenwriter is the novelist! My friend did tell me that the novel is boring but she doesn’t really like political stories so I just assumed it was a matter of genre preferences.. 🤦🏻♀️

Yeah I really hate that bc it makes him a one dimensional character. There is no real question what Li Ni should do so there is no conflict either. It just doesn’t make Li Ni look that great either for hesitating. It’d be a bit more interesting if he wasn’t all that bad and I’d he did have some affection for his son.
