Well these are all just theories so I am not sure what you point is. I am agreeing with you that CJ feels it is unfair or biased. I am just pointing out there are subjective criteria and factors as well that is the Elders right to consider and those factors obviously can and have outweighed pure meritocracy but that is within the framework of their charter. This is probably what pushed CJ down a different path where he now wants to spin out from the family and take some/all of the IP with him. I am not passing judgement at the moment on whether he is right or wrong to do so. This is all part of the plot design.

The criteria to be a successor is that you must be of Gong lineage. It doesn't specify concubine children cannot succeed. And the Gong family is having issues procreating bc of the mountain miasma. So they wouldn't just disqualify children of concubines. In fact they seem to prize merit and encourage the different lines to compete within themselves to elect the most capable one to be line master.

Nothing is black and white right, even SGQ and YWS seem to be developing feelings for SJ and ZY. So I am sure Wuji has some affection for ZY but she probably compartmentalises it or rationalises that well, he never wanted to be SW or he'd be happier free of the valley. Which is true.
