Yeah this part of the writing is really not so great that I have been trying to ignore. He stuck out like a sore thumb from the beginning because his backstory is just ignored but doesn't fit with the other facts as presented. That just shines the spotlight on him instead of leaving him as a pretty much forgotten character as the writer is hoping. If he does pop up again, it will just be a face palm most predictible non surprise ever. When it is easy to just casually slip in a 2 sentence comment about his own mum passing when he is comforting kiddy Ziyu when Lady Lan died or something like that.

Yeah I felt suffocated by her towards the end.

No it is not answered but since he was next-in-line to be SW, I think SW Hongyu did have another wife/concubine before Lady Lan. It would make sense that he was widowed bc he was already SW when he selected Lady Lan as his bride. The only other explannation is he is the son of someone else from the Yu line, maybe SW Hongyu's brother who passed away and he adopted him. Given their strict bloodline rules, we have to assume Huanyu is a Gong and from the Yu line to qualfy for anything.

There are now four of them. They are all the same plot. I think the latest one Everlasting Bride which I dropped is the least toxic so if you are going to watch one of them that is the one. I just dropped bc I am bored with this same plot design.

Unfortunately his character evolution is going down the path of villain origin. I am still hoping he doesn’t go down that path but all the dark light foreshadowing and the constantly eavesdropping SGQ’s comment to him about being with him and not Gong men are not good signs.

Maybe one of her parents is from the ordinary world and the other one is from the pass.

It’s just gross and has been the kiss of death for both romance lines for me. During the kiss scene I imagined a bug crawling out and shocking some sense into ZY…

Yes but the weapon you describe on top was already invented - SGQ stole it I think when they were questioning the housekeeper many episodes ago. It’s not what ZS is working on with Xiaohei in the lab..

There I was running like a bat out of hell from I am Nobody to avoid zombies only to be gobsmacked when they pop up here like it’s some kind of apocalypse! I was also quite disappointed Liuxi didn’t get to kill off Kong Yang zombie but I guess that wouldn’t have been great for their relationship prospects…

Yes ZS is very busy working on a new weapon but idk what it is.
