I think most likely Wuji is behind the rumours bc who else would know. As for her motives it's hard to say. She was probably loyal to Wufeng in the beginning and probably already spread the rumour while her mistress was still pregnant. The SW position goes to the most qualified from the 4 lines. It is not automatic that the Yu line heir is the SW. It's a decision made by the elders and the current SW. That is why SJ was a serious candidate and arguably the most qualified one. It is also not a foregone conclusion Wuji has betrayed Wufeng. We don't really know what she is up to yet.

I don't think he is a bad guy exactly but he is not completely clean. I think there is corruption within Gong family. After YaQi attacked the Gong outpost in Ep 1, Wufeng stole all the weapons and herbs. And someone reported to YaQi that there is less stuff than written in the inventory log. So someone has been siphoning off weapons and herbs. That can only be SJ so what has he been up to???

I was kind of hoping she was murdered in some gory and shocking way but nope, she moped to death!

It seems to me more like it was intended to undermine the SW/Yu line's credibility with the other lines. Ziyu was just collateral damage.

I found most of it was boring. There was only one good part. The whole maybe he is not a Gong arc was predictable and anti-climatic. They are waiting too long to solve the first mystery. At this point it is disrupting the suspense momentum.

I think the idea is the novel chapters are released at the same time as the drama episodes. So no spoilers can leak out.
