Well I don't really suspect the cousins.. If Yuanzhi poisoned them for Shangjue, Shangjue would never have left the fortress. It'd be stupid bc he was the no brainer successor over the loser playboy. But its too early to rule out anyone or anything and its better to wait for more clues to emerge.

Its too early to say bc there are 4 elders as well who could have somehow been involved but none of them are revealed yet. Not to mention Lady Wuji whose account of what happened sounds very dodgy. I think we need more episodes for the picture to emerge.

Just think of the Gong family as having 4 divisions and the last character of their names represents their division or their jobs. So Ziyu and Huanyu are both Yu 羽 (defense), Shangjue is Jue 角 commerce and Yuanzhi is Zhi poison 徵. I think only Huanyu and Ziyu are siblings but with different mothers. I think the rest of them are just cousins.

As someone posted on the Feed, he actually looks like a young version of Ye Baiyi (from WOH).

I wouldn't say he is exactly not smart just not wise and he is also just not as experienced and not ruthless as Shangjue who has dealt with betrayal and cunning people in his business dealings. And he is very biased, he is allowing his petty childhood rivalries with his cousins to get in the way of using their talents. He is not ready to be Sword Wielder.

Well I think so far, the ML has definitely not yet proven himself to be smart. He allows his kindness and his emotions to cloud his common sense. Feels like he has some hard lessons ahead.

Well he shouldn't have to fight his own sect. The Gong family is like a business - everyone specializes. The Yu branch is senior management. That doesn't mean the Sword Wielder has to be the best at poison or weapons or or commerce. As long as he wins their respect as a leader its good enough. Mei Changsu in NIF couldn't fight but he was the leader of the biggest Jianghu Alliance. If anything at the moment Ziyu's greatest failing is not his martial art but he is lacking experience and wisdom. It shows that he is not as careful as Shangjue at weeding out hidden enemies for example and he is not building bridges with the other lines of the family but creating divisions instead. His biggest challenge is he has to win Shangjue over and even out fighting him is not going to accomplish that.

I agree that she is not as dumb as she pretends to be. But that Gong mountain is a terrible place, I don't care if they are righteous. Women are herded in like cattle, inspected for the ability to breed sons and no one cares that much if they are willing or not. If I were her I'd go half mad too and the only thing I'd be doing scheming how to escape that dastardly place.

In half the wuxias including the most famous ones, the ML is not the best fighter out there. This is not a requirement at all.

Well the story opens with a trap Gong family set to weed out potential assassins so they were definitely not unaware there was risk. Afterwards, both the Sword Wielder AND his heir apparent are killed, so of course they should suspect there are infiltrators all over the place. Wufeng knew these were all possibilities and planted as many spies as they could, knowing some of them would fail/be found in the hope at least one will succeed.

Maybe 8.3 will end up being right. It's too early to say bc this can go downhill in so many ways with 20 episodes to go. Not something to worry about anytime soon.

It is obvious the bride selection is the best opportunity to infiltrate the mountain fortress so whether it's leaked or not, the Gong family is bound to scrutinise all the candidates closely. Wufeng just hoped if one assassin is discovered, the Gong family would let their guard down and assume everyone else is "safe".

I think it's an expensive drama for sure and not just for the faux fur.
