In this kind of story, the focus is always on the ants or the low level characters so I doubt the Wang and Liang are that interesting. They are probably dangerous and old and wrinkled and just rock up in the later parts to die after killing a few people. This is the reason why the Chi vs Mei distinction matters:

I think the mud fight was just to get accepted into Wufeng. Where they trained and were seperated for 20 years. Yun Que is younger so of course YWS may not recognize her anymore but she probably recognizes YWS. I think both sisters were trained by different ravens and told their sister was dead to stop them from trying to reconnect with each other.

I think both women are interesting characters and smart in different ways. I also believe the emphasis on Mei vs Chi is intended as a clue but maybe was a bit heavy handed. Always so many different and spirited opinions here - never a dull moment when there is a good drama to discuss.

Yeah many things point to GSJ being the real target. The spy SGQ that is sent after him is a Mei (higher level) and her handler has commented that she is the more capable one. It stands to reason he is the more important target. They sent YWS who is a Chi to approach Huanyu, suggesting he was a lesser target. They sacrificed Zheng Nanyi to protect SGQ's cover, again showing she is the one they really care about planting deeply.

I believe Shangjue was the real target of Wufeng. He is the most capable of his generation and he is feared by Wufeng. I think the old Sword Wielder meant to change the succession, which would have been terrible for them. That is what he was going to discuss with GSJ when GHY interrupted them. GSJ is a real threat to Wufeng bc he has many jianghu connections he doesn't just hide in the mountain like the rest of them. Wufeng's operation was very successful bc with the weakest least expected new Sword Wielder, they can slowly undermine the Gong family and eventually access the secret weapon. They also cast suspicion on GSJ by planting their assessin as his friend's daughter Zheng Nanyi.

Agree and they were searched and not allowed to bring any weapons to the mountain. Girl's got to improvise where she can.

I think SGQ is actually Yun Que. That's why she covers forYWS from the beginning. Her raven may be in love with her. He sacrificed/planted the fake Zheng Nanyi to protect her.

I really hope this drama doesn't get dragged down by excessive romance and triangles.

They are both controversial but I don’t really mind their comments. Even if I don’t agree with them they cause such a stir I find it quite hilarious and some of these actors do have attitudes. It doesn’t hurt to have them taken down a peg or two.

Sometimes a SE is a good ending bc it makes more sense than a HE.

It’s a weapon that I think is most likely just gunpowder but could also be nuclear. It must come from the mountain else why would they live in a place like that. It would also explain why they can invent elite weapons and poison but it makes their women barren and they have few descendants. It would also explain why a prince popped out, that the court has interests in this infinite fire (I believe is how iQiyi translated it).
