Title Key to the Phoenix Heart Spoiler
If I was a 16 year old girl and Neo hugged me like that, there would be no way I could get my lines out. SIGH!…
lol - he is very good looking but not my type at all. I’d be not even flustered.

Yes - I notice the majority of Chinese speakers on here watch with Chinese subs.

We can agree to disagree. And sure, there are lots of bad or worse actors - that is hardly relevant.

No offense meant but I think her acting is not all that. She has some talent and good comedic timing and is good at the same stuff but lacks versatility - I have seen enough of what she has and have no plan to watch her again unless its a plot that slays. Acting school could have helped her. Not to mention the way she spiralled downhill and remains fragile.

I would add that the discussion post explains the original power balance struck with the ED. But that balance assumes the men remain friends and allies. Now that that has changed, Prince Qi as regent outranks Wuyi and is a threat to him. But Prince Qi cannot move against Wuyi without making Jiayu collateral damage as long as she remains Wuyi's wife. That is why the emperor won't let them divorce.

She debuted as a minor. I am just saying she should have taken time to go to school. She clearly was not ready for the entertainment industry.

Zhao lusi won my heart when she was this age and aimi has done the same. Thank you directors.
Lusi is a child actor who also should have taken some time to go to school like Wu Lei, Song Zu'er and Ai Mi have. It gives time and distance from the industry to grow up while still improving their craft.

The dialogues are well written and clear so if you understand Mandarin, there is no reason to not to turn off the English subtitles. I only occasionally take a look at English subs to see how titles etc are translated so that my posts here make sense. Otherwise, I find the English subs are often not aligned with the dialogues bc in Chinese, usually the topic and time and place comes first in a sentence while in English it comes at the end. That is confusing to bilingual audiences bc the English subtitles translate the back end of the sentence first and doesn't match the spoken dialogue. So I just watch with Chinese subtitles.

The CPC lifted 750 mm people of out of extreme poverty (<$2.00/day) over a decade. It is one of the most monumental achievements of any government in world history. They are truly a people's government and are heroes to the common Chinese citizens. But they are not revered by the rich or the billionaires who want more freedoms and superior rights that reflect their privilege - unlike the US, it is not a great place for them. The Western narrative propagates the views of these people bc they flee to the West. In school, my nieces are taught that the US is an oligarchy - a wonderful place for the haves but not so great for the have nots while China is a people's government. I have zero issues with them bc they made me (and most of my friends) rich beyond our wildest dreams but I wouldn't want to live in China itself either. The West has a very superficial and wrong understanding of what they are all about. If you watch any of the so called propaganda dramas like the award winning Minning Town you will understand the scale of what they did - and it is told in a way that acknowledges mistakes and trial and error in policy along the way.

The emperor could have been a good ruler if his mother did not meddle. He actually is smart but his failing health…
That would be a great twist!!!

I don't think Jiayu should have set her free to her flee to Northern Qin but I didn't want to see her shoot her…
Yeah it seems to me she should just return her to prison to meet institutional justice. Even Li Mao can’t keep freeing her too many times without implicating himself.

This empress can easily get nominated for Royal evil person award. She in fact can start her legacy..such a bad…
She is still incredibly beautiful though. I never noticed it until her niece He Yuanji mentioned she was a beauty for the ages and then I really looked at her.

I think otherwise, in the story the age of jiayu is 16 while wuyi is 25 with 9 year age difference so it's close…
Some people don't want to admit that the real issue is they are thirsty for romantic stories about 16 year olds and adult men (25 vs 28 is not really different). They just make themselves feel better about it by insisting that 30 year olds portray the 16 year olds so that they can get super juicy kiss scenes and nudity.

Yes indeed - I can't believe his mother did that to him.
