Each platform measures their own heat index differently so you can't compare them across platforms. But bc they are airing at the same time, they will weigh on each others heat indexes bc they all consider the same factors like hot searches. view counts etc.

I had hoped they would both exceed their previous works but I guess this was not the script to do that with.

Destined aired at a time there weren't many good competing dramas. This was airing during high season up against both Tencent and Youku's S/S+ dramas. The heat index matters most for performance ads associated with the drama. If iQiyi hits higher levels, it gets paid more for the ads. Adverstisers often accuse the platfoms of manipulating this kind of data. It used to be based purely on view counts but when they started to use bots to manipulate the view counts, advertisers stopped accepting that as a metric. I don't think it says that much about whether a drama is good bc its ability to hit high heat levels also depends on competing dramas on air at the time.

I think the critical mistake was to try to make this a less dark angsty story and to whitewashing the characters. I also don't think battle for the throne is that taboo - its a popular trope in many period dramas. Lost You Forever is very dark and the FL is very complicated and grey - your cold and resentful to a T. Its consistent with the novel and its doing super well because of that. Youku underestimated audience intelligence with LOA. And I suspect the original screenplay will disappoint you - I heard it is 4 writers, 3 of whom are newbies. The most experienced one has only written forgettable dramas. The directors are also one hit wonders from WOH who clearly were shored up by a very hands on producer for that drama.

Yeah the only people that get paid really well in this industry are idol actors. Scriptwriters are almost the bottom of the food chain...

I believe trauma can manifest itself in terms of cold resentment it doesn'thave to be just crying. And if that is how Dilraba portrayed the character I would have been fine with it but to me, she didn't deliver that either. All I saw is someone who never had anything really bad happen to her. In any case, I found both leads acting uncompelling but if you feel it matched the novel, maybe it is not one I will enjoy reading. In any case, all that matters is you enjoyed their acting and found it to matched what you read. I would have also preferred to enjoy this as much but sadly I did not.

Yeah even if you like Dilraba,Anle is a real struggle to watch bc the script is really bad. I rated 3 dramas 6-6.5 this year:

I didn't watch that but he does have a short but interesting role in TBOY.

Yeah some minor plot holes are definitely emerging. The mystery writing is not that tight - clues are strewn around too conveniently in the other sub plots as well.

He was also just in TBOY.

I think the original story is complicated and doesn't speak to that broad of an audience. They were targeting a wider and younger audience but I agree with you, they should have just gone with a different, more lighthearted and simpler story.

Well in the past iQiyi hasn't charged international subscribers bc our subscription costs a lot more.
