Well certainly Yuntai master but Lingyuan master seems more like a pawn than a schemer to me. Lingyuan are all fight and no brains and as even Liu Gongchan observed they are nothing but bandits. Of all characters out there I am not looking at her as the ultimate villain whom I also think is already shown.

I don't think it's that simple or that Lingyuan master is the main villain. YX is currently running a salvage operation from everything that has gone against him. Doubt he gets off unscathed without consequences.

Yeah I wouldn't want to watch a show where the protagonist is way smarter than everyone. That would be super boring. I don't think YX has been that much ahead on any of his schemes. He actually won by a hairs breadth in both cases which is what keeps it interesting. I do think that Nangong Fang is probably the main antagonist and he definitely is using Yuntai strategies so your theory is very interesting. I once thought YX secretly took control of Yuntai already bc no one has seen the master for so long. It could well be that Nangong Fang could have done the same or is actually a Yuntai plant working from within to take down Lingyuan. It could be a double blind plot playing out. The question is what is the Yuntai master really after?

He is great at grey characters. I actually think he could have pulled off the lead role here just as well and he is coming across as smarter and more confident in terms of being a brilliant calculating character. He was great in a similar role as Luo Ben in LLTG. It’s just too bad there aren’t that many main roles like that out there.

Well I wouldn’t go as far as to say they are underestimating him either. He miscalculated in many cases and lost Mo Bufan’s 100k teals and got him whipped.Maybe Young Master Kou is but he is clearly a dumb villain and far from the main one.

What he means is the more YX wins, the higher risk YX becomes over confident AND the more dependent the Master becomes on him. He is betting the old lady will eat her young. Right now the internal battle within Longyuan is between the Young Master Kou and Nangong Fang. YX is also aware of that and he plans to let them duke it out. He will throw the winner to Liu Gongchan and get rid of them both that way. It will also be a death blow to Lingyuan, getting rid of the master's right and left hand.

The romance developed too fast at the beginning I never got invested in it either. And then it becomes the overused Romeo and Juliet trope that makes me roll my eyes. But I think the conspiracy so far is pretty interesting.

IMHO he actually has better screen presence than Chen Xiao.

Yeah I understand about the names. It's a huge controversy bc the Chinese get super offended when Western translators give them English names - like the one that had the audacity to translate Huang Rong into Lotus Huang! But I am slightly sympathetic as to why it would be easier to call Xu Fengnian Pheonix Xu for example. I rarely read the English version anyway so I don't have a strong opinion about it either way.
SSS and JOL are both huge books. I think there are 25 or 26 books for SSS and it still goes on.... I only bought the first 6 or 7 volumes to start.

Well... let's see... it could be just totally wrong.

JOL plot is full of twists and a bit wild. Am quite happy they have gotten on with filming. The problem with SSS is they adapted too little of it in S1, the plot has barely shown itself. The books are on the top of my Chinese reading list right now bc I doubt S2 ever gets made.

Well if they are the characters @SakuraDream wrote then cooperation or allies is correct. It is an exceptionally close or modern form of address for a father's employee but its possible.

Wouldn't it be funny if her mom is the head of Lingyuan and her dad is the master of Yuntai? All's well that ends well - their marriage reunites Qian sect! Lmao!!!

I think they are kind of cheating by not telling us what happened to the land and who owns it now. Its also a bit of a plot hole because it seems to me that is the first thing YX should investigate.

I avoid the relationship charts bc of spoilers but I assume from the way she addresses him as shu 叔 that Liu Gongchan is her paternal uncle. Unless her title was bestowed , that implies he is also related to the royal family. He may be adopted or they could be sworn brothers.

You should just submit feedback to iQiyi. If enough people do it, they take action.

He was indeed 😜 but luckily there were other bilingual higher up bosses who sided with me. It took awhile but he eventually got it that the client only reads the Chinese version and let me write them in Chinese with an English convenience translation for him.

Actually the production itself named both her and Wang Jin Song as special guest stars (with slightly different wording) and her billing (6th) is actually higher than his (7th). I think it is to recognise they are more special than just support roles even though they are not leads. It's just that the MDL default format puts guest roles after support roles. I decided not to pursue it further in case poor Wang Jin Song gets kicked down to guest role as well.

I think someone else should try. I already used the most official source and was rejected so if I go back with Dramawiki I am pretty sure it won't work.
