I suspect it could be setting up for irony - Su family could fall down anyway and they all become 贱籍 jian ji or her family could get cleared of their past misdeeds and she gets elevated back to official status, which I believe is superior to Su status which is still merchant or one of the four working classes.

Actually the CGI, the demon familiars and the world reminds me a lot of Yinyang Master movie, the Chen Kun version. They had something like the arena as well.

Yes - tbh the papers don’t matter as long as she stays with Su Mingyu and he never marries anyone else. She will be for all intents and purposes his highest status wife and her kids the first in line to inherit. Their kids later on can obtain their own elevation papers and I assume that is what Su family will do almost immediately for them so this decision is only her putting her entire fate in Su Mingyu’s hands.
