It is a fair and insightful comment, please do keep it up. It is always nice to see balancing comments. I would have cut the maid scenes too. She is the worst idk why she even gets screen time. It is a race to the bottom between her and the emperor's delusional eunuch. This is a dinner drama or for me a treadmill drama. In this category, drag is good, in fact it is a requirement!!! 😂😂😂

Ah thank you for reading - I always review everything I complete. Its the holidays so I may keep watching for the lack of anything else to do...If you complete it as a book reader I hope you review it too - its always nice to get that perspective 😄

Character design is not good. Delusional lovesick villain is the most common and boring trope in c-drama. The fact that one is an emperor and the other a dowager empress does not make it better. I am hoping the Empress prince ally turns out to be a better and more complex villain.

Ok I will restart it at some point. Idk about the Unchained Love tbh - I think people that like it are watching for the romance but I don't see any chemistry. I just love Dylan's character design but the villains so far are meh. I plan to watch a few more and then decide.

I also consider WOH a wuxia and The Untamed more of a xianxia bc of all the Taoist aspects and philosophy and the main character's reincarnation. To me, Blood of Youth looks more like a wuxia bc the da xia spirit is very strong among the lead characters but it definitely has some strong xianxia or high fantasy elements of wuxia. Its very similar to Sword Snow Stride bc of the fighters can cultivate to the almost immortal stage but falls short of it.

I dropped both of those and I never read the originals. They were just bad dramas.

I don’t understand why such a terrific character like Xiao Duo is matched up against such a terrible villain. There are 30 episodes to go, this can’t be the main bad guy!!!

Yeah it’s the greatest insult to any good protagonist. There is potentially a third villain that hasn’t showed up yet so it’s not yet a lost cause.

Lol - I lasted under one episode of her last drama but she is alright here. If I drop this it’s more likely bc the two villains so far are pretty pathetic.
