I am also watching ADOS and may continue Murder in the Kairoutei but ep 1 was meh. I can highly recommend Ordinary Greatness if you want something to watch while waiting.

I watched about a 1/3rd of GMP with my mom but didn’t continue. The guy was a total asshole.
Doubt the Douban rating holds up. Even famous actors are scolding them on weibo for
disrespecting the original source material like that.

I feel you but past the halfway point IMHO it is too late to drop. I agree wrt LYN but I also think BCF is a much more complex character than his character in TLB.

True but he is well regarded bc both Rattan and GMP were pretty big hits. I dropped Rattan bc Jing Tian does nothing for me. And I dropped GMP half way bc it was way too 狗血 for me but I may as well as watched the whole darn thing bc my mom treated me to a most unwelcome blow by blow... like if she weren't my mom...smh... I really like his camera angles and cinematography but the 狗血 is just OTT. I thought it was just that particular story I am beyond dismayed he managed to turn this wuxia into a 狗血 as well!!!

Yeah we all know in period drama, bare appendages are not a good sign. This is all so not necessary.

I am trying to find something good to say about Ep 31 & 32 and I am drawing blanks outside of I now ship DFJ and LC. I think he really understands her more than even SMZ and he is also someone she cares for selflessly. I also like they way she tells off BCF. She is spot on about how pathetic he has become. It is clear he doesn't even love LC, he just has to win her as if she is a trophy. Yeah I am pretty sure he has a very small you know what. Poor LC, he is no better than FYK. I am really mad bc I love good villains and I had read that BCF the way he was written was what makes this story interesting and some idiot screenwriter and director destroyed him in such a disrespectful manner. I came here to watch a classic 武侠 but I should have known better that Li Muge is far more interested in 狗血, he just can't help himself! On top of that, I have a really bad impression of what BCF may have done to ZXY but I really hope I am wrong.

Every time I think the hair stylist can't do worse, they surprise me.
I am also not bowled over by the over-acting. But I think it is bc the character writing is atrocious. Like idk why they even changed the novel bc what he is doing to LC now is more awful. And it is something someone who truly loves her would never do. Like they are just throwing the character under the bus - I thought he left LC with a certain understanding and empathy after the Pili sect adventure and now its like he is trying to be an even bigger dick than FYK. And yeah Lei Mei is another one but I think she may at least end up consistent in that she is just a user and I am sure she is out to use him we just don't know her angle yet.

They have 6 episodes to turn it around at this point. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah it was obvious the story was going downhill but it still managed to surprise me by how much. They made BCF pathetic. He was the most interesting character in the novel. They destroyed him. And WXS is just lame.

I just think there have been too many half hearted, lazy remakes of the classics that don't capture the spirit of the original. Like we don't need another condor heroes or heaven sword. Maybe Gu Long and Jin Yong's lesser known works. Although I did think the latest Handsome Siblings adaptation was not bad. But tbh I still think they are better off focusing on the newer wuxias that they can approach in a fresh way. Like AD2 for example would be great

Cool seems like just a misunderstanding. I will watch to the end bc I have FOMO but it’s only an ok drama for me.
