I agree many physical aspects esp height doesn't match. But this is a BIG mystery in the book and unfortunately LYN whose height is too distinctive was cast as BCF. If I were the director I would use someone else under the mask that could be either BCF or FYK to maintain the mystery. So to me the clues are all in the setup, who has motive to lure her out there and how does the perpetrator interact with LC. The avoiding the stare is very very personal and the main reason FYK doesn't quite match even though many clues also point to him.

While I personally wouldn't describe the actor as ugly, I am very liberal when it comes to comments like that. Writers frequently write about ugly or unattractive characters and directors cast ugly actors to play them. It is simply the opposite of beautiful and if we can discuss appearance when it comes to beauty then we can also discuss everything else in between. It is not like people who rave about beautiful people are not shallow. We all are. That said, many people find it offensive to comment about physical features that a person cannot control So you should proceed with care when making such comments bc you will inevitably attract the kind of reaction you have. My personal policy is to avoid doing that unless I know it is a safe place like a private friends chat. Otherwise you are going to end up in a giant waste of time squabbling with strangers over something you won't be able to agree on.

It’s a portrayal issue. The character is not just intelligent he has quite high EQ as well. But he is young, inexperienced and idealistic. He wants to believe in and inspire the best in those close to him. The acting is not nuanced and it’s coming off as he is just naive and not that smart.

The director defends it as being true to the novel. I think there should be a good motive for it to be accepted by audience. Just as a catalyst to turn LC dark is not good enough IMHO. I think it is designed to divide the 3 sworn brothers who are too powerful together AND also to prevent LC and SMZ from eventually getting together and unite House Drizzle and 6.5 Hall.
