Yeah I was waiting for it to be subbed bc my mom needs subs. But I decided not to wait for her anymore. I had to pretty much start over I couldn't remember where I left off so I am only at the beginning still.

I finally picked up Advisors Alliance again and maybe I should have waited until I finish with this bc the difference dialogue becomes very obvious again. That said I can't believe I put it on hold for so long!!!

Have you seen him with Tan Songyun in Under The Power? I thought that was his best chemistry. I liked him with Bai Lu as well but I have noticed that he is increasingly distant in his dramas. Like he is just going through the motions. As for Dilraba I think she is also a bit detached from all her leading men and I have to say the same for Ren Jialun. Put them together and you get two good actors doing all the right things but with something missing. Performance wise can't fault it but just don't feel the sizzle.

It’s only the first 3/4 episodes. And I filled in roles the way they are introduced in the character guide with no spoilers.

I don’t think she is important at all. She probably only manage to get into scenes to begin with bc she was sleeping with the director.

Zhuge Liang and Li Yan are political rivals with different strategies of how to gain advantage against Wei. But Li Yan is the more morally flexible one who is even willing to betray Shu for his own personal/political gains. We see this when he knows it is wrong but allows Li Miao to frame Feng Ying. And then the girl and the villa. The guy is corrupt. And then finally he is willing to let Shu soldiers die to undermine the next phases of Zhuge Liang's Northern expeditions. They set out to trap him but if he sticks to his moral high ground, he would not have walk into their trap. But the drama makes clear he knows it is high treason and he is basically willing to let Shu soldiers die by compromising the delivery of provisions so that Zhuge Liang fails. Feng Ying and Yang Yi are loyal to Zhuge Liang. And I guess Chen Gong also finally understands what his father stood for and was willing to die for. He is dangerous because his willingness to do this kind of stuff ultimately undermines Shu and makes them vulnerable to Wei. In fact that is Wei's strategy - to undermine Siwencao and make them lose the intelligence war which will lead to the loss of the real war.
This is a fictionalised expansion of what happened in history but if you read it, it may give you some ideas of how this could end.

Yeah I am enjoying this drama for the twists etc but I am definitely not gonna read his books if this is his writing style.
