Honestly the other adaptations were so Western James Bond/24 - long on action/violence/gore and short on plot/twists/logic. This reminds me of John LeCarre in terms of how good a story it is but how difficult it is to adapt. It basically all boils down to the characters and the acting which for me delivered in spades. And the setting is just so much more interesting and consequential than Cold War.

Been looking at ear tips all night and I will note that Huang Chao, Yu Wuyuan all have relatively red ears. Maybe it does get redder in those scenes I am just pointing out its pretty red to begin with.
