Ya agree. It depends how far the ML wants to go in defying his mom's wishes. Last time filial piety is important and usually kids won't defy their parents unless it's very important. We can see that FL has grown in importance in ML's heart to defy his mom's wishing so many times.

She is a good and good looking actress. Just don't like her character in this show Hahaha

The romance is a cute and understated one. Secret glances, happiness when seeing each other, electric currents when brief body contact. The ML has progressed further than the FL. The FL has a positive image of the ML but I don't think she is in love with him yet. Whereas the ML is clearly smitten just that he doesn't know it himself yet. When he comes home he will notice that she is not around and asks for her. When she is being wronged he will stand up for her. The boots she gave him are so precious that he doesn't bear to wear them out, shields her from the sun etc. It's so cute to see their interactions, reminds me of my younger days during puppy love. The shyness, innocence and awkwardness hahaha

Ya but I like her character here. It's quite well written. The issue I had with her character in the rebel princess was that she was very one dimensional easily manipulated by the empress just because she was madly in love with Zidan.

Ya she is bloody irritating. Her crocodile tears, smug and delusion. Saw previews of 19 and 20 on Weibo. She is going to harm the pregnant Da Niang and blame it on Shi Yi. Hope Da Niang and baby survives.

Like you said it's a trust thing. Madame Xu doesn't see the evil in Qiao. In her eyes Qiao is sacrificing, hard working and wants the best for her son and xu family. Whatever happened wasn't Qiao's fault so there is nothing for her to guide and correct. Basically, in her eyes can't do anything wrong. That's why her judgement is clouded

I understand where you are coming from. Madame Xu is not aware of all the scheming Qiao has done. In her eyes Qiao is a kindhearted and pitiful girl. She doesn't know that Qiao purposely brought a dog to harm her grandson. She thinks it's unintentional. And the fabric case. She doesn't feel its a big deal cause in her eyes Qiao should have been the wife and rightfully is entitled to the fabric and in charge of the household.

She is her niece and a Di daughter. Madame xu is biased because they share the same blood and status

There is also a guy (played by Daddi Tang) that likes the FL but he hasn't been in the picture much. Think he'll appear later when the couple has developed feelings for each other already to be a counter pole for the ML.

I also started this drama after rebel princess and I'm liking it so far. The romance is different from rebel princess (which I also liked very much) where XQ early on already liked Awu. In this show the ML is initially not into the FL but slowly growing to like her when he gets to know her better. He also already has concubines and kids but it's not disturbing me at all, as his character is not the lecherous/playboy type. He married them out of obligation rather than lust. It's also more realistic for him to have a family in ancient setting, as he supposed to be a decade older than the FL. Think its unrealistic to portray him as still single. I also like the bantering between the 2. The FL is no pushover and will defend herself if she has to. It's funny to see the ML's frustrated reaction every time she outspeaks him.

The boy had a relapse and I think it might be madame Qin causing it.

It's OK. We all have our own preferences. There are lots of other shows that might appeal you

Seen him in interviews. He can speak mandarin well. Just his slang is different from those educated in China. I guess it's hard to get rid of slang. Just like folks from America, Australia and UK. All speak English but the slang is obviously different.
