Title The Dragnet
Did they film part of this in Singapore? ...high budget lolz
Doesn't seem so. They only used Singapore's skyline but the actual scenes are shot in Malaysia, evident from the car plate.

I'm at ep24, so far she hasn't been poisened yet. There was a failed attempt though.
She is getting darker and darker with each episode. I do emphatise with her though. Being mistaken for Awu and raped, family being framed and decimated overnight, a MIL that picks on her and having an airhead as husband. But the way she plots against Awu is so underhand and low. I mean, if her objective is revenge and revive the Xie clan then she should be more farsighted. Poisening Awu won't get her very far apart from instant gratification. Especially because Awu is smart. I would like to see an equally competent opponent. But who knows, maybe she will smarten up in the next episodes and fight Awu in a more intelligent manner instead of secretly poisening her...

Yes, the crown princess ordered her to. Possibly to spy on Awu and find a chance to harm Awu again.

Which Awu still considers as her friend sigh. I'm also getting jittery about Jiner roaming around in Yuzhang Manor. It's like having a ticking time bomb in your house.

They are a despicable pair but now that I know the backstory, I feel a bit sorry for Huan Mi and the Zilv. What…
The trio are victims of the power struggle. Zulu may not have been so ruthless and usurped the throne if Huan Mi married him instead.

Is it true that ahwu will ask xq to take weixin as concubine? I understood that she can’t give any child cause…
I doubt it. From how the drama is progressing. It's very likely that XQ will be faithful to Awu till the end. There is going to be a lady (Awu's younger relative) later in the story who tried to make herself XQ's concubine and to replace Awu but it was unsuccessful. She basically tried to force herself into their marriage by saying that XQ and Awu have been married for many years with no offspring. She can help Awu by producing offspring for XQ. Awu of course didnt fall for it.

Just watched her video. t's exactly what you didn't hope for: A rant about age and Mary sue lol!Her opinion is…
I had to look up for the meaning of Mary Sue as people seem to have different interpretations. There is no universal definition but this article sets out the trope more reasonably (http://barelyharebooks.com/how-to-avoid-writing-a-mary-sue-character/). Based on the article, a Mary Sue is an underdeveloped character that:
a) lacks a clear purpose in the story
b) lacks depth and believability

If we go by this definition then Awu is definitely not a Mary Sue. In fact, from the 21 episodes so far, there is a clear purpose for Awu's character (the story is about her and her development). Her personality and exceptional skills also didnt appear out of nowhere (like in some other shows) E.g. her strategic / critical thinking skills is a result of many years of grooming and first class education (you can see hints of it in ep 1 where her grandmother asked her to recite the map). As an elite noble, she'll naturally grow up to be confident and graceful in the way she carries herself. Even her unrestricted personality (which is uncommon in those days where ladies were expected to be demure) is believable, as she was raised shielded by her grandmother. Hence, I don't find it odd that men like the 2 princes, XQ, Helan Zhen and probably many more in future will fall for her.

So far, the storyline has been logical and very enjoyable. Though I've to admit that I too had to adjust initially seeing ZZY playing a teenager but it wasn't distracting me from the main storyline. The ONLY time where I had an unbelievable moment was when Awu managed to convince Jinning Wang to postpone his attack with 1 day on the basis that the citizens shouldn't be harmed. I thought that went too easy and it wasn't realistic for an experienced and shrewd Jinnang Wang to be so easily convinced.

The point that AvenueX made about outdated storylines where ladies had to rely on men to be recognized. I think we have to see this in context. It's very common in ancient/patriarch societies for ladies to depend on the men in their lives. That's how the social norms were back then. Nothing Mary Sue about it.

I can see a rant coming. Hopefully she is at least original and doesn't just go on about age and Mary Sue...

Her opinion is probably clouded because it's ZZY and the considerable resources this project had. She just expected more.

Someone said that general song huai-en will betray Xiao Qi..its true?
There have been some subtle signs that general song is quite taken with Awu. It started with the lantern festival where both Awu and Zitan were at the puppet performance wearing masks and general song corrected Awu for being rude about XQ. The moment she took off her mask general song had this smile on his face (like pleasantly surprised by her appearance). The crush developed more as we get along and he gets to know her better. It's most obvious when he was escorting her back to the capital, the scene where he just send XQ off then Jiner was at the door step. The way he looked at Awu and told her that Jiner is here to see her, its like he is a shy school boy in love.

To give her the benefit of the doubt, she is not aware that it is poison. She thought it is some pill that will…
Yes, she is gradually turning to the dark side. She has no clue about the poison now but I suspect she ultimately will be so consumed by jealousy that she will knowingly harm Awu. It's sad as she basically grew together with Awu. They are almost sisters and all this is destroyed because of a man that doesn't even love her. I find her too easily manipulated by the crown princess. It's like she doesn't have a brain of her own. The crown princess told her to sleep with Zitan and she just follows, the crown princess told her to go to Huayen to feed Awu that pill and she just goes and now the crown princess is asking her to stay with Awu and she follows again. Either she can't think independently or her judgment is clouded because of her unrequited love for Zitan...

Apperantly in the novel general song will end up betraying XQ for power (and he has a secret crush on Awu). But they've changed quite a lot in the drama adaption (e.g. in the novel the crown princess was never raped by the crown prince), so who knows they may change general song's trajectory as well.

That Jin'er girl is really evil..... first she slept with her master's lover and now she is adding something into…
To give her the benefit of the doubt, she is not aware that it is poison. She thought it is some pill that will neutralise Awu's love for the 3rd prince. But what I can't stand is that she is not using her brain and just blindly follows the crown princess' instructions. Awu is obviously over the 3rd prince and fully devoted to XQ. So why does she still need to feed Awu that pill? Just not logical.

Does anyone know if they are dubbing themselves? Or have voice actors? ZZY constant whispering is on my nerves.
Except the elder princess, royal consort gui and 3rd princess, the rest are their own voices
