And speaking of Lee Seung Gi, I loved King2Hearts a lot, (like a lot), but it had the MOST ATROCIOUS "American" "actors" I had ever seen....then and still now. I don't know where they found those people, but they weren't American, for sure. However, what was even worse was that they were such bad actors it was embarrassing, and it made their scenes unwatchable. The villains were so bad it became cartoonish (and not cartoonish like anime or something cool.) So this drama ended up having two things: some of the most heartfelt and well-written scenes in dramaland: between the King and his beloved, between the previous King and the new King, between the King and his friend, between Hang Ah and her father, etc, etc, and 2) some of the poorest execution of a portrayal of international folks out there.
For some of the best older dramas, watch for anything with Cha Seung Won in them. 1) City Hall (2009) with Kim Sun Ah 2) The Greatest Love (2011) with Gong Hyo Jin 3) You're All Surrounded (2014) with Lee Seung Gi and Go Ah Ra
I love that you recommended Kimi wa Petto, one of my favorite J-doramas ever. Shison Jun was made for that role. I would also add Seo Kang Joon's ML character in I'll Come to You When the Weather is Nice - he was the epitome of gentleness, sweetness, loyalty and love.
I watched the first 1/3 of this drama, dropped it for six months (because I was starting not to be able to stand any of the characters except for the poor ML and the FL's dad) and finally came back tonight to just finish it. I never thought that I would get so frustrated with a drama. The mother honestly needed therapy - in any culture, that kind of behavior is just flat-out unacceptable, narcissistic, and borderline emotionally abusive. The OST was like nails on a chalkboard, and I honestly muted the sound for the last few episodes because I just couldn't hear the same songs over and over again ad. nauseum. The last three episodes were like a lesson in angsty anxiety and I practically needed antidepressants to get through them. While the acting from everyone was first rate, this was just too much with not enough payback.
Wow, I found this movie to be amazing. I was able to relate a lot with these characters. I have a very similar…
I hope that one day you feel totally comfortable in your own skin, and get the chance to show up as the real you. Loving another person is the highest honor we get to have in this world, and love is just that - love. Human beings love other human beings. I hope that one day you feel brave enough and safe enough to tell someone who you actually are. Your voice is important .
Thank you for reading, i actually haven't looked into that tag. In fact, i am not sure if there are enough k-dramas…
Great discussion! I'm curious why BL tags would need to be more moderated than other tags - I don't see a reason why that would be necessary. And if articles dealing with LGBTQ+ issues are tricky to get accepted on here, then that makes me very interested in writing something. :-)
