I was guessing the knifes were reforged from some famous sword that her father used.
Haha I was being extra but yeah, the knives represent something at most. ML definitely noticed something “unusual” about them too the first time he picked them up and testing the blades and questioning her. We shall find out then!
Viewers are not supposed to know yet who the good and bad guys are at this stage of the story. (unless you read…
For sure! I’m just impatient. Also, I normally like a bit of spoilers to follow the story, characters, and schemes better and not feel completely lost. But it’s all good! 🙃
Ugh, I need spoilers. Some, only minimal to understand the story some more. So, who are the good people here and who are the bad guys? Is her father’s friend, the old man that works for the county, potentially a backstabber? I’m suspecting him as a mastermind behind the murder of her parents and uncle. The Li guy was very sus at first, too, but with the latest episode it gave him a chance at being a good guy, hence when he was talking with the old man from palace, nevertheless what’s their reason to go after ML???
So far, I think it’s safe to say that FL’s father is more than just a butcher, he was definitely involved in the palace scheme, but I sincerely hope her father isn’t linked to his father’s death. That would be cliche. And them steel butcher knives she jokingly claimed are her heirloom, I’m sure they are more significance than she thinks. The letter is in the handle, or in the blade, anything is possible, lol. That would be my guess.
I’m not sure whenever this comes out, it’ll be a hit. I think people are moving out of the slap/kiss trope…
Well, I, on the other hand don’t mind slap kiss because that’s my trope. Not often can you find the genre anywhere else except in some short Chinese dramas…But it “hits” differently in a Thai lakorn. I’m excited for this remake. I hope it doesn’t stray too far from the original. Apart from that, I do have to agree that each time a remake comes out I get super stoked just to tune out fast. For example, I loved the original Mia Jum Pen and Samee but the remakes totally butchered them. One became an exaggerated comedy show and the other less than its original. It makes me miss the subtle tone and fine masculinity from the 90s and early-mid 2000s. Unpopular opinion but I was wondering/hoping Sawan Being would get a remake, and that would be right up my alley but indeed a controversy.
Ugh, I’m so conflicted if I want to stay watching. Someone convince me to sit still lol. My biggest problem is wanting to revise and redirect everything. My writer mind is coming out, perhaps it’s my wishful thinking! I just finished ep10 and the plot is a bit thin. So damn tired of these endless poisoning trope.
Allen Ren is an aloof actor (imo) but dang it, why is PXR, too?! They both are really good in acting indifferent and detached that I was ready to believe she really careless about him. I swear the consummation scene was random, unnatural and forced. Even the birth control tea scene didn’t pang the heart. They both were tearing up like it’s the saddest thing ever, but I wasn’t feeling it. Up to that point we haven’t seen her warming up to him enough (or at all) to make it satisfying. I think we needed a moment to really see her start trusting him again and rediscover her fluttering feelings before the consummation. And boom, the blindsided heartbreaking betrayal! I said it once, and I say it again. They suck at suspense. So many ways to keep one on the edge of their seat, but nah! So many time his character can express “love” without kissing but nah! When she was bawling over her master coffin I so wanted him to soothe her, just reach out his hand even if to quietly retract it. And why don’t he ever close his eyes when he hugs her, like hold your beloved empress like you mean it boy! Anyways, who thinks the crazy princess is the unfounded Saintess? I think that will be interesting...
Whoever did the ML's makeup needs to be reconsidered. The artist made a mid 30s actor look like a person in their…
His eyebrows are what gets to me. They are drawn usually long, lol. They nearly touch his hairline, wth. I can even see his real brows peeking from where it should have ended
First thing first, I am enjoying this one. But I do think there are some FF moments. And it’s not very plot driven so I’m still unsure. I’m not sold on their love line either. Maybe it’s the quick timeline/pace, or it’s Allen Ren. I see the chemistry, but really how did he come to love her so much? 🤷♀️
Secondly, I wish the show actually do suspense. I feel like whenever there would be suspense, they gave it away already. I would like the idea of him truly believing she is out to kill him for revenge. I want sizzling, sword fight scenes between them lol. Since we know there isn’t going to be much intimate moments or kisses can we get it in the disguise of fight mode? Convincing the dowager that they are always at each other’s throats, but they all know less? 😂
Furthermore, I wish her character still engage. Remaining somewhat proactive and bold. She could be a ninja-empress, actively plotting and secretly escaping outside the palace walls to pursue her cause—-but right now she’s playing drunkie. He’s quite an idle emperor, too. Maybe they both should be ninjas together and escape from time to time, no?
Lastly, is it certain that master is Ghost King, or is there a slight chance that it’s really her father? Is that part of the promise ML agreed to keep away from her? Her father is the Ling of the Lingbe Sect? And could the crazy princess be master’s long, lost supposedly dead daughter? There got to be a link there, with her poisonous background and the glowing pendant? And what about the portrait found in the cellar of her master’s home, she said the woman looked familiar and not his wife…can it be the crazy princess’s birth mom?
Sadly even episode 2 isnt any better..... the drastic change between the quite dark first ep and this fluffy second…
lol fluffy flashback is meant to be so, and it fits right in if you get it. To show us the contrast and gradual growth of her character, I think it’s valid/necessary. In the past, she was carefree and enjoying life as she knows it. Present time, her world had tilt and she’s no longer that. Kept in the dark and with so much questions unanswered, she is hurt, bitter, confused, and frustrated. But, yes, boy am I glad the drama picked right back up from its darker and serious vibe. Continued from ep 4-5!
ML is not just going with the grand tutor’s plot but surely enhancing it. When given a dull sword, why refuse when one can sharpen it (for the kill)? Also, maybe out of the other court men grand tutor proved to be the bigger manipulator, so ML is luring him in. That’s my take, anyways. Happy watching!
Novel reader can u please tell what was the so called reason that ML have to kill the FL's master and then marry…
ML killed her master because as emperor it is his duty to uphold good and rid of evil? But I do think the bigger picture is that the Master chose to be sacrificed. ML clearly understands, too. Master is only a small fish to a bigger shark. It does seem like her master really cares for her, maybe even more than her suspicious father. Master probably suspect he will be killed soon even if it weren’t for ML.
To answer your other question, ML is going to marry her because it would have been a political marriage (but icing on the cake he actually fell for her). Clearly, as a young boy he had no backup and very much a powerless pup among the old wolves, therefore he made an enticing deal with the power seeking grand chancellor. You’ll get what you want, if I’ve got what I wanted. ML is willing to turn the grand chancellor’s daughter into his empress, but that would only be made possible if the selfish old man invest in him to be that of an emperor first. Win-win, right?
That’s why in that one scene when he was having nightmares of being taunted and looked down upon by the crowd at court, he woke up anxious. He immediately ask her to wed. The sooner they married, and really the quicker she abides and possibly be used as a threat against her father, the more secured he will feel in his throne. Only permanent power can keep an emperor alive.
Watched all four episodes. Have to renew my membership and the express for episode 4.. Well, I hope FL has better…
I don’t think this is a second life plotted drama (unless that’s much later on and not mentioned in the summary at all). If you’re referring to when she awakes in ep 4, I’m pretty sure that is just the transition scene taking us from flashback to present time. She’s still living that same life as everything occurred in the dream is very much her reality. She was only being sarcastic when he asked what she dreamed about. She said she had a nice dream and that her master was still alive, blah blah blah to spite him since he is the source to her all her bad fortune and sorrows…as she believed.
It's beautiful to look at, but the story isn't drawing me in.
Yes! Stunning visuals, but the story is just that?! Foxy Tang going on a very long journey to seek out his frenemy- brother- dude? Please be more than that. I find that a very long stretch for a plot.
Yeah, I dislike that while he may not wholeheartedly love her yet, he chose to initiate intimacy before marriage.…
Sure, but it sure didn’t feel genuine. These two adults didn’t come off as we are hot for each other. Like they really want to do it, lol. Nah, imo the whole scene came off as an calculated move on his part and she is merely going with the flow. Doing what is only expected of two sophisticated adults who are supposedly in love or in a relationship. She might be into him and was going with the flow, because why not do the deed to take it to another notch. To tie the knot? The look he gave her can be pure acting on his part for all we know. I still stand that it’s convenient sex at this point for both party. The heart isn’t full. That I can say is the significance of that scene. It has nothing to do with love or heat. Just pure calculation.
I know he doesn't really love her yet, but the look he gave her at the end of ep 6 before he deepened their kiss?…
Yeah, I dislike that while he may not wholeheartedly love her yet, he chose to initiate intimacy before marriage. Whatever his and her goal was I feel like they were both not at that point yet so they should have waited until after marriage. Felt forced and fake, imo.
I’m not really loving how the timelines in this are being shown. It’s a bit confusing and I feel like I’m…
Yeah it’s not enough. Their chemistry and relationship feels forced and lukewarm to me right now. Nothing special. Not sure what his character sees in her but that is clearly the plot, I presumed. He knows about her lies, he has an agenda— a shrouded mystery yet to unravel.
First impression, again first impression only based on episode 1. The premise lack any type of feels and I wasn’t impress. I’m not feeling his pain or her pain. The telling and showing was definitely choppy, losing engagement and anticipation quick. Neither of the two main characters had yet to convinced me in their role. The actor doesn’t come off imposing. As for the actress I liked her acting from BFTB but here her acting appears too “refined or restricted” and not delivering what it may. Currently, I feel like the drama was bland and only a hype. Both emotional and physical side of it isn’t delivering as firstly anticipated but on the bright side, it has potential and remained promising if accordingly. The relationship of them being classmates can be more developed and interestingly shown/told; but I guess we will get more in depth later and so for now the quick, choppy pace helps get the story rolling faster.
Wow! He’s a fine dish. Definitely going to be the next big thing for the short film industry. Hopefully, this eye candy’s career progress to main role for longer dramas. 😻

And now onto watching the next episodes.
