Final answer would be, why would I have the answer to this question XD. I am not the creator of this story so I have no power over whichever direction this story decides to take itself. I am not here to advocate any kinds of behavior, whether it's good or bad, from the characters. I am simply dicussing my own take and understanding of the story, which I enjoy. Whether or not you agree it's not my concern. You can perhaps discuss this with the original author if you can reach them. But arguing with fellow viewers about the ethics of the story in this comment section is a moot point. If you feel like it's your personal mission to educate people then, fair, i guess, but I'm sorry maybe this is not quite the right platform for that.

Wait, uh, are we talking about the same thing? Because I'm not sure we are... Oh you mean whether the princess actually sleep with sy rongqing? I'm halfway into the book but, so far, no. There was no mention as far as i remember about sexual activities. Aside from the fact that srq was castrated, as far as i understand, he was more like an extremely close attendant. But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though Just to be clear, the point that i hope would made it into the drama was that one line in the book 'my wife can go to court while others' can't'. Just a man very secure in his masculinity that he does not afraid to be overshadowed by his powerful wife.

I'm sorry if it was unclear but I was referring to the book XD. The drama so far has been pretty faithful to the book though, so i hope this point could also make it into the final cut of the drama.

That's an interesting way to look at it. I'd say, in any polyamorous relationship, jealousy and unfairness is always inevitable. I would not delve to deep about why it was frowned upon in today's society. But in the case of the love triangle in this drama, the misundestandings really went both way. In fact, the main focus of the story would be giving them second chance to trust each other and clear all these misunderstanding that led them to a failed marriage in their previous life. The different power dynamics between the ML and FL might have misled people into thinking she's abusing her power over him. But to me, they're actually pretty equal in terms of intelligence and wit. The ML, despite being lower in position, never feel like a man being suppresed by his wife. In fact, several times throughout the story, he mentioned how he's more than okay having a powerful wife. Anyway, my point is, pei wenxuan was definitely not just sitting there to take all li rong's abuse. He's willing to acommodate her, yes, but also not afraid to voice out his opinion. And that's what makes their dynamic interesting, imo.
I agree with you that the editing isn’t great. It’s choppy and simply not smooth with transition. The lack…
Yes! Like, it's not good to the point that a casual viewer like me noticed how half assed the editing was. Visually it also feels, idk, lacking in depth and dimension? Idk if anyone else notice this but there seems to be a weird edit in ep 7, during the scene where the crown prince was talking to his bodyguard in the stream, the water in the bottom looks veeeery weird. I can't figure out why it was edited that way, was the water not real? Because the rest of the set looks very real to me lol. On second thought, maybe not. Maybe the whole set is fake lol.

If we're going by today's standard then, yes. What she's doing is a blatant infidelity. But, assuming we're judging this by the royal family law in the drama's setting, it's not completely a taboo thing for a royal princess to have a concubine (or more). What she's doing might be petty, but not exactly against the law. Another note is that, she didn't kill him just cause she's jealous, but because she thought PWX was plotting against her demise (which was also a misunderstanding). But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong cause I got this information from novel translations 😁

My understanding (from the book) was that pei wenxuan thought he was somewhat responsible about qin zhenzhen cause she was his ex fiancee. He was so innocent back then that he misunderstood this 'sense of responsibilities' as a 'romantic affection'. And he failed to explain it well enough, so li rong ended up misunderstanding him as well.
I keep wondering why the whole drama feels like it's rushing through the motions. Maybe the lack of transition between scenes? Like, there's rarely a marker of night and day, often times there's no clue of setting (place and time, how much time has passed since the previous scene; whether they have reached a new place; and where is that place, like, how far?; etc). Since i've read the novel I can pull some clues from my memories, but I can imagine it would be quite confusing otherwise.
This drama synopsis sounds like something i wouldn't poke with a ten mile pole. But I'm tempted to watch it just for the ML. Is he bad bad or like deliciously bad?
Fun show! I like the humor but wish they didn’t include the South Prince for comic relief. He’s not interesting…
Same! I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would be when I stumbled upon it, but I find myself ff-ing every scene with the south prince and his maids.
One last thing that was still nagging at back of my mind by the end of the story,
Xiao heng mentioned in, ep 35 or somewhere around that point, that he would become Jiang Li's pawn from that point onward. And I still wonder which part of the whole scheme was planned by Jiang Li?
