Idk why but i feel the last 2 episodes feels a bit boring for me (i fell asleep a few times XD). I still enjoy their dynamics but, overall we get less exiciting moments and mostly just preparation for what's going to come. Probably because I don't get the chemistry from the potential shishan-chu yue couple and yet we get so much of them. They feel more like a 'here's a guy, here's a girl, now kiss' type of couple for me, in which, them being together doesn't really add or substract anything to the overall story. Both just seems like the type who would fall in love easily, but will it last? I don't see anything in chu yue that's so special that it will make shisan change his ways. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, who knows.
Kill a prince for the petty revenge of appeasing an already dead empress and set the entire kingdom on high alert…
Yes it's suicide mission and so not worth it, but, i think it's also important for them to look like they're doing something. I mean, it will be too suspicious for them not to do anything at all, An people might even suspect that they have something to do with the strife between the princes. But yeah, it's too big of a stake, and it's been established that NYZ would prefer method with least possible casualties. A better workaround, i guess, would be that they pretend to save Wu di while actually doing something to An di. Kill another two birds with one stone.

I thought this was more for the benefit of setting LTG up into a better position. The fact that ruyi got her revenge plot fulifilled is just a bonus point, for me. But they're in for the long run to create internal chaos so they can gain control to the next in line. That's how NYZ explain it to LTG in the beginning of ep 27 and that's how i've been seeing it.
That was the fastest episode and story progress that I have ever seen ππ
For real. This drama does a speed through all of it's (usually boring) political machination on it's own, i don't even have time to touch my fast forward button lol. Instead, it chooses to take its sweet time on building relationships, maintaining chemistry among it's casts, and letting it's characters free from old grudges and obsessions. On that note, li tong guan still has this unhinged smile that is kinda creepy, i hope he really has turned over a new leaf and never relapses again. Ever.
Man, Ning yuanzhou is such a dad. He attacc, he protecc, but most importantly he's here to slap some senses into every bratty ungrateful assess out there (literally and figuratively)
Is this common in chinese dramaland, that main actress got paid considerably more than the main actor? Most account I heard from hollywood/kdramaland mentioned that it's very uncommon, though not unheard of. I get that in this drama case in particular there is seniority factor to consider. But I'm just wondering if this would happen with actress and actor from the same caliber starring in a drama together.
Though I know LYN more from his singing than his acting, Iβm still a fan, and I can say that this particular…
Right! It's practically the first time i watch him in a drama and yet, I really can't imagine anyone else playing NYZ. People saying that he doesn't fit the role or that someone else should replace him is crazy. Clearly they did not watch the drama at all.
I don't like LTG behavior either, but am I the only one feeling Ruyi is unnecessarily cruel and cold to him? He…
Character wise, i have no problem with how he's depicted (okay maybe i have problems but i can kinda get where he's coming from) . My problem is with how long the story needs to drag his psychotic episodes. The thing i love most about this drama is that it doesn't dwell on things for too long, they always make quick but logical and effective resolution to every conflicts so far. But, compared to other arcs so far, we spent more time dealing with his obsession and it's getting old and repetitive. I just hope he got dealt with quickly so we can actually build good rapport on him and then move on to other things.
Sadly the drama director isnβt one of them. Otherwise why would they abuse horses in every single episode by…
True, my heart goes for every scene i watched them fight and they attack the horses first. And they showed it clearly how these animals fell down T^T i wish in the future they find better methods other than hurting the animals
Finding this article at the end of 2023 as I am currently watching his latest drama. Thanks for writing such an extensive introduction article about Liu Yuning! He sounds like such a sweet and hardworking guy, really appreciate that such a rare type of public figure like him still exists. He can be such a great role model for the younger audiences. I am also surprised that his actual fans called him Boss Ning, cause it's also how his squad on 'a journey to love' called him. On that note, his character on that drama feels like it's tailor made for him and that makes him extra endearing for me. I hope he'll continue to rise after this, cause he totally deserves all the recognition that he gets.
ep6 now. Am I the only one who notice? Although some scenes are shot on weird angles, they seem to have shot at…
I noticed that too and it happens several times throughout the story. I was weirded out a bit cause that makes the editing feels inconsistent. Also did you notice the ppt-core transition in the latter episodes too? It's sooo funny and it takes me out a bit from the story cause it's so random and it happened during a serious moment too XD
No one is going to kill my baby daddy! π π π did they do the deed?
Afaik no they haven't as of the latest episode. At this point i think the baby's daddy/mother thing is their pet name to each other. I mean, remember that one time he called her his baby's mother when meiniang was seducing him XD. Everyone in the delegation already knows their background story anyway so everyone is already in on the joke hahah
Then why the hell would she say to have a kid considering how her kid turned out to be colliding with her father…
I'm not here to preach that the empress was a perfect angelic figure like ruyi has been picturing in her mind all this time. And i'm not here to argue whatever politics happened behind her death. I think people has been missing my point and i'm just confused whether my english is so bad that i can not clearly convey what i mean ^^; Fam, i was just saying that, it's a bit weird for them for not coming to the conclusion that the emperor was involved in the empress' death much earlier because her final words sounds like too big of a clue to be missed.
