Continuing from the 'ml is another player' theory, the game feels like two different genre from each of their pov lol. While man er missions are about farming/family/wealth building centric, shen nuo's game sounds more like adventure/political centric lol

Something that i noted was the drama felt very... staged? Kinda like a theater production? Something about the direction maybe making it look like things only happen in front of the camera; it feels very disjointed when new character came into the screen. Especially during the whole family introduction sequence. The grandma (and the whole extended family, actually) acting was also very, hyperbolic(?) that it adds to the theatrical vibe of it.

I think, either the shen nuo is another player or someone from development team. He seems to know way more things than he lets on. Also, from watching few dramas of similar tropes, man er probably was supposed to end up with you heng in the game, but then got distracted by shen nuo XD.

The only reason I'm not happy with the FL cast is that she usually played rather softer(?) type of character who cries a lot (at least from what i've seen so far) and, I was just so blown away by neo's chemistry with a plucky heroine in back from the brink. Honestly, I just love plucky heroine in general. And I'm really excited for this drama, but if I don't like the FL's then I think it's going to a deal breaker for me.
But, as of now, we don't even have synopsis yet so, I hope they're going to prove me wrong.

This is the perfect amount of everything for me. A bit campy at times, but I'm glad that the drama seems aware of it's own limitation. I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and so it can avoid being bogged down by unnecessary draggy angst like many other dramas. Pacing is also good; 30 episodes feels like a breeze and i never feel bored. Every characters done their part well, and I love every single one of them, even the villains! Special shout out to siya-xun couple for being so unproblematic but also super adorable in their cluelessness; they're probably up there as one of my top 5 favorite side couple ever!

Ep 18 and the fight club reference XD and all the anachronisms so far have been giving me constant stitches 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this drama is so much fun!

I came here and saw the eps count and proceeded to retreat lol. And then I accidentally stumbled upon the compressed 1,5 hour version on youtube and that was a very easy watch. I give this 7.5 out of 10 for the short version. Not sure how I would feel if I have to sit through the whole 41 eps though.

I'm on episode 17 and so far, there's nothing wrong per se. Actings are decent; relationships are very healthy so far. But it's just, idk, very dry? It has cute moments but nothing revolutionary i guess. Something that i note (as a non chinese speaker) is that the SML (the male best friend, wang zijian) accents sounds very unique to me, is he dubbed or is that his real voice?

To be fair, he did try to kill her in the beginning. Then again this story doesn't seem like it has too many materials to sustain full length 24 eps so I guess we just have to deal with a lot of these unnecessary tropes lol

This is so silly but very easy to watch. I'm on ep 5 and so far I'm enjoying all this absurdity XD

I love and i mean LOVE the aesthetic. People can say whatever about the coloring being too cold or the lighting being too dark but I don't care. Every single scene is shot beautifully, flawless fighting choreography and special effects. Props to the actors and crews who must've done a lot to pull those stunts!

However, talking about aesthetic, i can't not mention about the poor makeup choice. It's been bothering me since the first episode. It's either the foundation is too bright, or they put too much bronzer on the outer edges, or it could be that the make up just doesn't work with the lighting, idk.

Another thing that I really enjoy is the front and back hill bros (and sis) along with the dynamics. I really really enjoy them being together, whether when they bickers, or when they band together to blow up things. I can't believe we've been deprived of those fun for so long. They're so much better when they're together, like, if there's going to be s2, i really hope ziyu will change the rules that basically banned the back hill boys to go the front hill or vice versa.

Talk about the backhill bros tho, i wonder what will happen to the Hua family now that they no longer have any descendant left. Are they just going to adopt any random kid and named him hua or something? Now that I think about it, is it forbidden for the backhill resident to get married? So they just have to keep adopting kids?

On the relationship aspect, i honestly don't feel much about any of the couple, but i also have nothing to complain in particular. However, on anything else; family, friendship, comradeship, is where the drama really shines. During the yunque and young master yue episode, sure they have a really tragic history, but when i saw the agony in hanya si's face while he has to watch yunque die, when he embraces her dead body and sings the song for the last time (i have a suspicion that it was him who taught her that song) like howwww can i not bawwlllll T^T. Also did I mention how I really enjoy the gong bros (and sis) dynamics? The push and pull, and the mischiefs. Please, if there's ever going to be season 2, please give me more of those!

Overall, quite an entertaining watch, and i enjoyed every second of it. It drags a bit in the middle part, but still managed to pull that kind of ending; for this type of genre it's already a win in my book.

After finishing all 24 eps, here are some things that i like (and few that i don't)

starting ep 19 and the backhill bros are seemingly back with more shenanigans! i can't believe they have deprived us of these fun for so long.

the great antidote-heist was so funny OMG please give me more of these shenanigans!
