Just My Cup of Tea ○º◦ ❥
I absolutely live and breathe for the whole aesthetic of historical and historical-fantasy cdramas. There's something truly captivating about the ancient costumes and hairstyles, architecture and landscapes, battle scenes with swords and spears, pretty umbrellas, etc. Whether it's evil scheming by royalty, officials and other villains; harem or reverse harem; martial arts masters and disciples; politics and war, etc–I'm crazy about it all. It's like falling down a rabbit hole and waking up in a completely different world. My fascination with this genre comes as no surprise to me since I've always been interested in western fantasy and period productions.
Scenes that make your blood boil in anger? Depressing, soul-crushing stories? Tales filled with desperate yearning? Bring it on! Sweet romance, green flags and happy endings can be lovely and I do occasionally enjoy the charm of comfort dramas...but frustration, angst and suffering still remain top tier in my book. I'm definitely not someone who needs romance in every drama but I'm not a complete anti-romantic either.
Crime, thriller and suspense concepts will instantly catch my attention. I especially love a good serial killer series or psychological thriller, and preferably the non episodic type.
Disclaimer: I'm an absolute simp for the infamous childhood connection trope hated by many. (*quickly runs away and hides from any heckling, or eggs being thrown*)
Currently going through a CN/TWN/HK phase but occasionally still watch kdramas and jdramas too. |

| Baby, It's Cold Outside ○º◦ ❥
I might be slightly obsessed with the ethereal-looking winter scenes of cdramas, those long capes with gorgeous fur collars, plus the beautiful landscapes and architectural settings all dusted with snow. It gives off such fairytale vibes and I can never get enough of it. ❄︎ |
Your Trash Is My Treasure ○º◦ ❥
Warning, I watch a lot of reality, variety, and dating shows, so you might see me post about them. They're my guilty pleasure watches. After a stressful day, I like to give my brain a rest and zone out for a bit. They also work great as a palate cleanser in between longer series. |
Oh, the Horror ○º◦ ❥
When I'm not watching MDL content, I can often be found on the dark side of the moon checking out scary movies. Believe it or not, I even like jump scares. Despite most of those films being flops, I probably won't ever stop watching–that fear-induced adrenaline rush is just too good to give up! |

The Struggle Is Real ○º◦ ❥
I hate assigning scores to shows since I watch to have fun and escape real life stress, not to do homework and overthink. However, I do try to make an effort as a way of contributing to the MDL community. I use this chart below as a basic guideline but still need to find a set of criteria that works better for me. |
☆ 10.0 = loved it, worth a re-watch someday |
☆ 9.0 - 9.5 = almost perfect, very satisfied |
☆ 8.0 - 8.5 = a few flaws but fairly good overall |
☆ 7.0 - 7.5 = room for improvement, just average/okay |
☆ 6.0 - 6.5 = lacking in some key areas but had its moments |
☆ 5.5 or less = (usually drop without rating) |
