I love the way Kongpob smiles when Arthit is being shy/evasive/cute. They are probably the best BL couple ever! The chemistry between them is so real I wouldn't be shocked if they are best friends in real life!

Tew and Dae were adorable together, I'm hoping they make another SOTUS! I'd love to see the relationships that didn't get to develop on SOTUS S form into something bigger. And poor Aim still didn't really have an opportunity to get with May! Lol that was the straight romance in the series I was rooting for :). I love

This I was happy to see! Kiss the Series only really showed their relationship in the later episodes and even though I still enjoyed the series, I come for the BL haha.

Very true, but I guess in hindsight I'm glad that Su Hai Qing and Chen Ping Jun didn't end up together because Ping Jun can do SO much better in the way of Pinky or even Jimmy. I just felt so bad to see him hurt, the actor did an amazing job and I hope to see Tim Huang in many more series/films!!! All the actors did well but Tim was my favorite by far! :D

I agree alot with what you said, lol and I've commented too much on this series already so I'll make it short :P

Jimmy -- Playful, funny, cute, passionate, childish, crass, foolish
Yan Fei -- Stoic, professional, cold, detached, meddling, homewrecker
Ping Jun -- Honest, compassionate, very cute, dedicated, clingy, naive, stubborn
Hai Qing -- Artistic, quiet, distant, dishonest, unfaithful, abusive, uncaring

Jimmy -- Deserves a stable relationship
Yan Fei -- Needs a break as he's on the rebound
Ping Jun -- Deserves a good boyfriend
Hai Qing -- Got what he deserves in the end, which is nothing

After reading your novella I have to say I overall agree, with a few exceptions.

Ping Jun isn't one dimensional. He's an introverted hopeless romantic who pretends to be extrovert with an understandable level of possessiveness given that his boyfriend is a selfish, cheating, lying prick. He is dedicated, passionate, trusting, honest, loving, compassionate and kind. His bright personality is the only thing that kept me watching. I was amazed at his patience for the one he truly loves, even if that person didn't deserve his affections. He put up with SO MUCH BS, I would have kicked Su Hai Qing to the curb.

I found Su Hai Qing completely unlikable, uncaring and unsympathetic. His problems are of his own creation and his arrogance is unbearable. The most condescending, dishonest user and emotional abuser I've seen in a BL in a long time. He's also a sociopath for having ZERO consideration, empathy or regret for what he did to Ping Jun and what he put him through. I find him absolutely abhorrent, a disgusting human being with the only redeeming quality being that he's a talented artist. Its interesting, most artists have deep emotions and thoughts. Su Hai Qing is as shallow as a dry aqueduct and will (as was at the end of the series) be ultimately alone.

I find Yan Fei dismissable and not all that interesting. I don't honestly know what Su Hai Qing see's in him that isn't better found in Ping Jun. Ping Jun is nicer, more affectionate, less rapey, cuter, more honest, more faithful and is ACTUALLY in love with Su Hai Qing for some reason. I don't think Su Hai Qing is capable of love and as for Yan Fei, I think he was just on a rebound after his troubles with Jimmy.

Jimmy is flawed and I understand Yan Fei not wanting to be with him, at the same time I felt bad for Jimmy because at least his love was apparent where as Yan Fei is aloof.


Su Hai Qing and Yan Fei come off as unfeeling, promiscuous, dispassionate throw-aways who have commitment, honesty and fidelity issues that make it very apparent that neither of them are ready, nor deserve a relationship with anyone. Yan Fei might find someone, but the only person I see Su Hai Qing ACTUALLY falling in love with is himself.

Chen Ping Jun was the perfect boyfriend, I hate the selfishness of Su Hai Qing and how he constantly cheated on, lied to and used Ping Jun. Su Hai Qing should be awarded the title Prick of the Year. The other guy was a variable so I don't hold it against him, but man I HATE, with a passion of HATE, HATE Su Hai Qing! Lmao yeah I was really into this series at first until I could no longer stand the main character. I was hoping, HOPING that the Pink Haired guy would come in a swoop up Ping Jun, but that didn't happen. The ending sucked and so did Su Hai Qing - Asshole of the Century (I gave him a promotion).

Ah alas, another movie/show pushing the harmful narrative that age-gaps are a normal thing in the gay community.

BL Unity Cafe, and so many others, are horrible at labeling things properly. They don't seem to understand that BL = Boy Love = Gay Romance. I hate it when they say something is BL, so I watch it and then get disappointed that I just wasted my time lol. I felt that way with Part Time, I felt that way with Slamdance (which was still good but completely kicked the BL to the side in favor of the other non-interesting couples)

Labeling things as BL when they are not is clickbait and dishonest so I understand the frustration. Rules I use when it comes to BL; First -- I confirm its BL (look up romance scenes/pics on google) Second -- I make sure it wasn't made in China (I want romance, not bromance, happy endings, not sad) Third -- I read reviews about its plot/ending without reading spoilers (mainly to make sure its a feel-good movie at the end).

Grey Rainbow I heard was a great movie but yes its very tragic from what I've heard, my guess is one of the leads dies or something sad like that, so I avoid it lol. After watching One Kiss, I've become very cautious about sad BLs,

One Kiss -- an Italian film -- beautiful movie with a great message and a very powerful ending that made me want to never watch it again. I've never cried so much after watching a movie lol.

Long Time No See is an action BL -- which is rare -- with a good ending and I've watched it 3 times so far :D

I just finished SOTUS for the 2nd time and SOTUS S for the 2nd time haha, Love those series so much! I wish the Tiew and Dae relationship had more airtime on SOTUS S, they didn't even get to kiss :(, I always like a good kiss scene to confirm the relationship, as long as its done well of course lmao

It was a good series about friendship with a few romances that didn't catch my interest. Which is a shame since actors from Waterboyy, Love Sick and SOTUS make appearances. I guess I went into it expecting a BL and was disappointed by my own expectations. But I don't hold it against the series because of my ignorance lol. I don't typically like romances, but I love BL (being a gay person myself I guess its bias haha) BUT I do enjoy the straight romances too like Yihwa and Cho in Bad Romance -- mainly because I think its funny how she thinks he's gay and his undying determination to win her heart is endearing. But I guess at the end of the day I relate more to BL's than straight relationships even though I can find enjoyment in both.

I just know that if I what the first episode I'm gonna want the second! lol I'm gonna rewatch SOTUS S and they might have a few eps that I can watch back to back. The first few eps of a series tend to establish the characters. I am looking forward to this series! Hope it doesn't disappoint like Part Time!

I like Knock mainly becaues he reminds me of an old friend of mine so its more of a familiar bias that an actual reason. Yihwa tends to butt into things that don't concern her all the time lmao, but I like it because it puts people on the spot and makes them think more deeply about situations. I don't like meddling into relationships of others, but given her personality I guess it makes sense.

I didn't watch Make it Right to oogle over guys haha, I watched it for the same reason I watched The Way He Looks. I like the coming-of-age story where a teenager discovers themselves and then goes on a journey to gain acceptance from others, but most of all themselves. I can relate to that having gone through it myself.

SOTUS did have great character development which is one reason I keep rewatching it here and there lol. I also wish Addicted could have a 2nd season but I dunno how likely that is :(.

Yeah if you are mainly looking for BL then Slamdance doesn't really work.

Yes I've watched Crossing the Line (Borders) 2 times :D. Its definitely one I'll rewatch again in the future!

I've seen 2 Moons once. I thought that the younger guy looked WAAAAAY too young, but his personality grew on me and I ended up enjoying the series alot!

As far as other BLs, hmm I like Long Time No See, I liked Irresistable Love 1&2 -- hated the ending but it was as good as you can get in China sometimes. Another I liked was Puppy Honey -- Didn't really care for the main couple in the 2nd season but I mainly watched it for the BL relationship anyways haha, AND it is the first time I've seen Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn (Was Bright in SOTUS) portray a gay/bi character! So I had to watch it for him alone! A great "classic" imo is Love of Siam from 2007 -- ending isn't really as bad as it seems and its not all that bad to begin with, just ambiguous. Night Flight is a gritty South Korean film that is depressing for the most part, but well done and I think a good film. Wouldn't recommend it as a feel-good movie but its ending is for the most part happy.

I agree. Sure, I mainly want to watch this for the BL, but that's not the ONLY reason I watch. I like seeing the other characters and their lives as well. Also I want the full 50 minutes, I don't like clips or short movies or mini episodes. The only one subbing this that I know is LazySubber and they live up to their name unfortunately lmao. I think that they are just extra busy so hopefully someone with more time on their hands can translate it.

Gii upset me when he was trying to "protect" Takumi by avoiding him, which only made things worse and brought back Takumi's phobia. Takumi's story is so sad, not only did I find myself feeling bad for what he went through as a child, not understanding what his brother was doing. But the more we learned about the story of his brother, the more I felt bad for both of them. His brother, afterall, was young too and obviously regreted deeply what he had done to the point of getting himself sick and dying as he cried for forgiveness. This series has so many powerful moments! I've turned into a crybaby watching these stories! :P

Its hard to determine age sometimes, and I hope you don't mind me saying, with East Asian men and women sometimes. So many look WAY younger than they actually are in my experience! Yes I also read about how the younger actor wasn't comfortable kissing a man. I don't know if he was uncomfortable because he was older or if it was simply a matter of not wanting to kiss a male... but then why audition for the roll am i right?! LMAO!

I agree that in some cases a younger person (of concenting age) can be emotionally and mentally more mature than their peers, and in those special cases such a relationship would not raise my eyebrow. Also the youth of the younger is what determines my comform level. If a 20yo is in a relationship with a 40+yo, no biggy to me at all. I only get uncomfortable with 30+yo going ONLY after guys 19 and under. I hate to judge anyone else's love, as being a gay man I've had to deal with such things. This is why I simply say "its not for me" rather than "you shouldn't do that". I have an opinion but its not set in stone.

And yes, even if both leads are totally cute -- if they have an awkward kiss... it tends to kill the moment! LMAO!

I've watched Obsessed 3 times now, I would watch it more but I also watch a BUNCH of others and I don't wanna wear it out! :P

I still haven't completed AB, I have 4 more episodes I think. I got distracted watching other BLs waiting for the next episode lol! And as far as incest -- My Bromance kinda toys with that... but they are step-brothers so I guess its different. Still, its up there with SOTUS as one of my favorite BL series of all time :D.

YouTube... sometimes. I mainly go to Dailymotion because YouTube are copyright nazis. I always end up buying the DVD version of my favorite BLs anyways! Lol just don't wanna buy something that I end up not liking, which with BL's is thankfully a rarity. Most that I've seen, I've enjoyed! Even though the ending kinda sucked at first viewing, I bought Love of Siam because the ending wasn't final if you really think about it.

I hope you are able to take her to South Korea, that would be very fun! I've traveled before and it forever changed my perspective about life. Lol I've become a bit of a xenophile and if I had more money I'd travel to everywhere I've wanted to visit. Thailand, Japan, Germany (been there once, but not that long), UK & France (been to both once, wanna go again!, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Italy, Spain, ect lol.

I used to hate romance until I realized it was only because I was watching straight romance that I couldn't relate to. After watching and falling in love with the many BLs, I have grown to love romance in general. Even straight romances now! Love opens the mind and frees the heart!

Yes and I also understand TianQi's point, there is a distinction between the government and what the people think. The attitudes in China are softening and I have great hopes for LGBT acceptance in China's future, despite the recent setbacks.

Those setbacks are caused by a small few who are trying to cling to a tribalistic past that is slowly slipping away from their present. As people grow closer together through communications such as these and other social medias, their grip becomes all the more weaker still.

We are only different in the sense that we are all individuals, but we are no different in the sense that we are all human.

I may not enjoy Chinese BL's as much as others because of the censorship and/or sad plots, but I completely understand that the good people who make and act in these films do so at the risk of being misrepresented in STATE media and possible blacklisting. I love these Chinese artists who aren't afraid to stand with LGBT people! Art (in all its forms) is expression and the spice of life, an affirmation of humanity's heart, which should never be suppressed.
