I had put off watching this and now I'm wishing I'd put it off longer so I could binge the whole thing! I'm completely…
Actually, considering its low budget, the production is quite slick and stylish in its own way. I love the cold, dark blue filter. Also, it is extremely sultry and steamy.
Uhh also, why's there no info about the second lead actor who played Hao Wen? What's his name?
It was made in 2017 and Chinese censorship stepped in after Addicted-Heroin in 2016. All three leads are Taiwanese and most of the locations seem to be in Taipei to me. I guess it is a Taiwanese movie badly considered as Chinese everywhere.
oh boy, but at this point I'm just desperately waiting for them to address each other by their first name! I'll…
Japanese guys very often call each other by their surnames, even if they are best friends (Adachi and Tsuge, for example), and it is not rare for Japanese BL couples either. The couple of Ai no Kotodama have been living together as a couple for several years and they still call each other that way. The protagonists of No Touching At All remained Shima and Togawa to each other even at their most romantic moments and even after several sexual intercourses. The leads of Junjou/Pure Romance swithced to Keisuke and Shoushei from Tozaki and Kurata in the final scene only.
If that is how it keeps going then we are about to see another groundbreaking BL classic. An intriguing forensic mystery thriller with a carefully assembled narrative, excellent high-budget production with Netflix A look, breathtaking locations, showy camerawork and editing and two natural, fine performances form Tul and Max whose chemistry is as sparkling as ever. The supporting cast is quite solid as well.
Thanks for posting this. I was going to post something similar but you saved me the trouble. Apparently viewers…
This certainly has a lot to do with the "bury your gays" trope that was so rife for long decades in the mainstream media. People, especially LGBT viewers, are understandably tired and frustrated by that. I am personally not a big fan of tragic ends in BL but I can accept is when it is efficiently done and dramatically justifiable. I hated the end of MODC and My Extraordinary because they were abrupt, clichéd, manipulative and trashy. But I was totally fine, while clearly devastated, with the tragic end of Dew the movie, because it fitted the narrative and it was in line with its style, despite the car accident cliché.
Cheating once could be a mistake that one could excuse but the way the both of them are acting isnt something…
Making such a heavy weather of cheating, or more precisely judging it in totally black and white manner - while this is one of the most complex and difficult aspects of the human nature - is indeed beyond me. I find it particularly amusing and hetero-normative in LGBT themed subjects - not Oh Mando, that is another case - regarding the large number of open relationships in that milieu.
But that is my opinion and it is not my main issue here. My issue is, like so eloquently put below by liquidburner that some "viewers are incapable of enjoying a show with flawed characters". As I have noticed this is a lot more rampant under BL shows, but I might be wrong. Yet when it comes to BL shows at least, this is all over the place. I have checked the page of Ben x Jim. Another great and complex series I have thoroughly enjoyed exactly because it has very human and flawed characters who take several wrong steps and hurt others, but one could still sympathize with them, as you know why they do what they do. But instead of trying to analyze and balance their character developments, examine their psyches deep inside and the interactions of characters, some viewers just self-admittedly decide to HATE them for not being perfect. I find this appalling.
You mischaracterized or misunderstood the critique. I don't see the hypocrisy or "Christ on a bike" attitude you…
I usually stand by my opinion even if I am alone with it. so you can spare your patronising remarks. That was meant to be an illustration that wishing an unhappy end for the protagonists just because they cheated is not the most polished way of thinking when you are about to judge a complex creation like human being, to put it mildly, and I am not the only one with my observation that some of the viewers act like emperors after a gladiator fight. For Barry's motivations there are plenty of suggestions down there, well before episode 4 aired. I am not sure whether they will be right, but they do make sense.

Cheating is not the nicest thing in the world but it is not the crime of the century either, no matter how the governess choir beemoans. It is a very common act to happen to millions of people, usually when the emotion takes control over sense. And they do not act as if they ignore it. It is clear from Barry's monologue as well as from the teaser of ep 5. But anyway, I am sick up to the back teeth with the bunch of hypocrites switching to Spanish inquisition mode straight away the moment a BL character proves fallible. If anything means higher standards that is the courage to show BL protagonists who make several mistakes, do make the wrong choices on numerous occasions, lose their self-respect, lie, act irrationally, often live for the happy moment they might regret later, and in general are just flesh and blood, instead of sticking to super-preachy narrative and faultless princes for the sake of philistines getting their panties in a bunch when characters are not strictly Saint Thomas Aquinas incarnate.
Once again, if you are a BL protagonist, do not dare to be gullible, human, frail, do not ever dare to make a mistake, like every other human being makes out of passion. If you are not the pillar of the most imperturbable moral, the Torquemadas come and get you. Christ on a bike. When did BL world has become the churh of 19th century spinster governess mentality? Duh.
The kiss at the end looked computer animated. I don't think they kissed for real. So I'm dropping this from a…
No offence, but it is a reasonably shallow thing to do, especially judging a whole series for just that one. It is soft not porn. And we don't know whether they are straight or gay or whatever, Teejay Marquez is admittedly pan btw.
The only actors that SHINED to me were Karissa and Z Mejias. Enzo and Darwin were mostly good. I agree that the…
Karissa and Z are my picks too, but Keijee Mesina as Heaven was very good too imho. Some will no doubt find him over the top, but that is because he is a proudly effeminate gay character. I am actually quite content with the acting all the way, including the leads. To me they were both effective and convincing. Yayo Aguila hammed it up indeed.
A lot of new BL fans only look for shows with lots of sex and/or fluffy romance. And that's fine. But that doesn't…
If that is the conclusion where you have come after reading comments quite elaborately detailing the complex issues people have with the outcome of this show, then your comprehension skills are not very strong, to put it mildly.
I find it interesting that all the comments here are negative but they're all positive on YouTube.
Comments on YT are always 90% positive under just about every BL show. And not all the comments are negative here either. Even most negative ones here emphasize the positive aspects of this series, like acting, characterisation, production, cinematography, music, dialogue, etc.
But that is my opinion and it is not my main issue here. My issue is, like so eloquently put below by liquidburner that some "viewers are incapable of enjoying a show with flawed characters".
