The plot was average and had holes in the story but the use of the comedy aspect lifted it up a lot. What made me want to comment was my admiration for actor XZX playing ML. He is amazing. He presented a full spectrum of emotional flavors and the changes in his eyes and face from a lovesick puppy to a cold-blooded psychopath were immediate. Brilliant guy. I was charmed by his acting and will be following him.
I read on his MDL website that when he passed the entrance exams to the Central Academy of Dramatic Arts he came second out of all the candidates competing in the acting section, which is quite an achievement and shows that his talent was evident even before that.
Below I quote a fragment from @Jilly's review, which I fully agree with and support... "The acting for the FL was okay, but the ML caught my attention, seeing him act all flirty like a concubine trying to get their master's affection, and then switch to a villain haha 😄.. he did a great job, and I loved his character all together, great antihero ❤️"
It was her role. Her character is an innocent girl who had never had any relationships because her "uncle" pursued…
I remembered all of this and the first times it was ok but FL was clumsy even on the 30th time, when they had been together for a longer time. If people are affectionate towards each other, they don't peck at their partner like a hen pecks at grain. In my opinion, it was clearly either shame or lack of experience/ability to empathize with the situation as I wrote above. It was artificial and it offended me.
For example, you can look at how other Chinese actresses do it in their dramas, e.g. Chen Fang Tong. The ability to play intimate scenes is crucial for romantic films. Seduction alone is not enough. Besides, in this seduction, FL sometimes bordered on desperation and that was pathetic,
Funny, fresh and provocative. I think it would have been rated higher if not for one plot moment that ruined it all: FL - on the one hand, a smart and talented girl in science, on the other hand, FL's stupidity and naivety reach beyond the cosmos, believing the word of a person who doesn't like her or believe in other's lie (ML's mother) and not conducting her own research. That's why I give it only 6/10
I hate few things more than the "I know what's best for you therefore I'm gonna keep this a secret" trope
Because it is clearly a lack of respect for the other person - giving yourself the right to decide for them (I know what is good for you and you have nothing to do with it). And in a broader sense, this is absolutely typical in Confucianism and the patriarchy that results from it.
I read and read the comments here and I can't believe my eyes. I understand that almost everyone below, especially those who are most furious - have bought a virtual judge license. The thunder and lightning they throw are... strange, maybe funny because they are not even tragic anymore. It's as if the commenters themselves were crystal clear and could never accuse them of anything..
Nobody knows what the truth was, regardless of who admitted to what. In such situations, the cultural differences between SK (or China/Japan) and the rest of the countries especially from other continents are probably most visible. Fierce, long-term obsessive fans who are a specific product of that region can elevate an idol to great heights and destroy him with the same force if he does not - in their opinion - behave inappropriately. And none of the commenters wants to see that they are taking part in the performance. In my region, the saying is very much alive - "do not do to another person what is unpleasant to yourself". I just wanted to remind all of us that we have no right to judge anyone or anything, not only because we don't know the facts along with their context and motivations. We have to know the whole picture to give an opinion and none of the commenters here, including me, know that. We only have another performance before our eyes. Not first and not last. Greetings for all.
I don’t think his love for his teacher is the problem here, I think his teacher ‘love’ for him is the problem…
"Relationships without the deed doesn’t equal to platonic" - because of our conversation I refreshed my memory by watching the series again (01/2025) and I agree with you that ML and FL's feelings WASN'T platonic. It was unconsummated, but not platonic.
"I repeat 15year old kid is too young to handle relationships or emotions of an adult" - I agree with that too. However, I didn't notice that FL wanted to encourage him personally in any way, create a relationship or burden him with her emotions. On the contrary, she tried to cut it off in many ways, even by disappearing from school (after their kiss on the beach - initiated on his part) and not contacting him at all.. He was the one who found her after 3 years.
"You called me stupid for it but I dont care." - I can call an action stupid but not a person. Each of us has managed to do some stupid thing in life. 15 year olds can be different. They can be very childish and they can also be more mature than the rest of their peers. There is no point in putting them in the same bag – because treating everyone the same – is just stupidity. It was nice talking with you, thank you.
Btw in real life this story reminds me a bit of the vibe of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet's relationship. But nothing beats the French President's marital story.
I don’t think his love for his teacher is the problem here, I think his teacher ‘love’ for him is the problem…
Perhaps we understand the definition of platonic love differently.
The most important feature of platonic love is the lack of sexual involvement - as reputable sources claim. "People who share platonic love are not connected by a sexual bond."
To close the discussion - for me, this drama is still a beautiful love story that started with a crush when one of them was very young, but that the feeling endured and gained strength over the years - which proves that it was not a momentary whim - and they moved to another level when BOTH were adults. So we stick to our opinions, best regards.

Thank you for your answer. My point of view: Love is not a problem at all, it is a gift. Their love relationship - if I remember correctly - was only platonic (I mean without sex), so what are we even talking about?
If that's how - you and others - judge such relationships, we can go further, I understand that you would like to curse millions of Asian delulu fans who love their idols ONLY platonically even though they would like it otherwise.. Do you see the stupidity of this assumption now (not only yours I mean at all?
Even minority human relationships are normal in their extreme percentage. It is not the mainstream, but it occurs in nature, so it is also natural.. amen.
The drama was supposed to "put a stick in an anthill", i.e. stir our emotions and did it. I love J-dramas for that because they are not afraid to touch on controversial topics.. for me in Asia they are the bravest in this regard and kudos to them for that!
I support such dramas because they make you think, and if this couple, by creating a kind of obstacle course for their relationship, passed this test victoriously - then it is a true, deep feeling and I will always support such a feeling. It is remind me like a whole lot of childhood loves that are physically realized at a later age, and it does not matter whether persons are the same age or how much older one is. Greetings.
I like Japanese productions because they are juicy, bold and often take on difficult topics – something that other Asian countries rarely dare to do. And they can show intimacy in a very aesthetic and artistic way.
But I can no longer accept another dose of the image of culturally shackled/bound Japanese women, whose self-esteem is not even zero but in minus. Who are born with the word "sorry" on their lips: sorry that I am alive, sorry that I am a virgin, sorry that you love me and I have to refuse you.. It is impossible to take this anymore… brr..
FL and ML were not convincing to me, neither in what they said nor in what they did. The "love" of ML was artificial to me, but the stupidity and naivety of FL - cosmic.
Not only his style aand not only in this drama. I see this in many cases of Chinese, Japanese and even Korean dramas. I can give many examples, (such as the recently watched Song Kang in My Demon). It always looks caricatured and I don't understand why actors want to make themselves look so ugly.

Justice in the Dark (2023) China https://mydramalist.com/50145-the-light-in-the-night (I am in the process),
maybe Happiness (2021) SK..

I love the brilliance of internet users :)
I perceive this as a lack of experience in intimacy plus a high degree of shame, not allowing me to play these scenes freely and skillfully.
ML - I liked him as a character, as an actor and his acting.
FL - beautiful face, good seduction, although at times it bordered on pathetic.
