For a Makjang, this had the best pace i have come across from the beginning. It wasn't boring at all. I've seen many makjang dramas with similar plot lines but none with this delivery and pace so props to the actors, director and the writer for doing such a good job on the script, its not easy to keep things interesting for 51 episodes.

The writer was also quite forceful with the lessons they wanted the audience to gleam from the characters to the very end which unfortunately may have fallen on deaf ears based on the reaction to the ending of the drama but don't let that deter you if you're after a good story with a good cast.
I wasn't fussed with the music, it did its job, nothing exciting, i only felt emotional because i can understand the words but nothing more.

Kim So Yeon did a great job in her first role as a housewife and mother though i found her character's disposition to be frustrating at times, I believed her struggle as the wife of Lee Pil Mo a proud, arrogant and neglectful husband also a role i haven't seen him in before but his evolution in that character was also very good. Lee Sang Woo's character although with his own flaws and secrets is a breathe of fresh air to what is a suffocating bunch of people. When things got to boiling temperatures in the drama i always felt a sense of relief when his character appeared.

The drama is mainly centred around the on-goings of the Bong Family which Kim So Yeon's character is a part of. The family is made up what i can only describe as as a circus act of personalities all of which are challenging to deal with from a viewer's point of you. Nonetheless, the theme of family and overcoming the selfish tendencies and inadequacies of those you love the most came across very well.

Clearly I didn't learn my lesson about watching a drama because of the cast. This is probably the only/main reason i watched this to the very end but i just became sour after i finished the last episode.

The best way to illustrate this drama for me is someone selling you a washing machine that is also a dryer but when you get home, you realise the dryer part doesn't actually work.

The story was disappointing considering what it was anticipated to be, the pace was extremely slow, i'd venture that some episodes can be skipped. There was no adequate closure on some of the sub-plots/medical cases earlier on just lessons learned for the characters, and so many characters were not utilised properly. I wish they could have spent more time on these.
The acting wasn't terrible, i feel the workmen were good the tools weren't. They did the best they could with what they had. For me, like most of the dramas this year, this one was overrated because of the cast (rightly so, it was a good cast).

As is typical with kdramas when the pace is slow and it's coming to an end, they rush to tie things up in a bow and this drama was no different. Unfortunately i don't have many nice things to say because i was thoroughly disappointed after coming in so excited but i'm sure others will be able to come up with something. I hope this is the last time i get conned like this.

I just wanted to add this drama to my list because that's how good it was. The story, Ji Sung as 7 different personalities, loved it so much i was on a rampage last year when he missed out on a couple of awards but no sweat he got the recognition he deserved.

It is one of those dramas where the actor does too good a job, you wonder if he's ever going to be able to find another drama where he will be able to give the same if not better performance and worry that he won't but i will hope.

I remember enjoying this and then getting disappointed as the show went on because the female lead just went from being tough, free-spirited to vulnerable and needy because clearly the writer needed her to be that way.

The story is an 8 for me because i wasn't expecting it to be so well thought out and actually complicated. I thought it would be just another mistaken identity romantic comedy so i put it on hold and i wish i had prioritised it.

It might well be just that for some but i have seen so many of these and i think what set this one apart was the emotions/acting from the leads. Everyone including the supporting actors delivered their emotions so well i found it hard not to empathise with all of them, needless to say i found myself so conflicted and frustrated with the emotions this drama was bringing out in me. Few dramas do this because i mostly roll my eyes these days at the things writers come up with so for me the fact that this actually stirred me up was a huge plus. I'm always pissed off at the writers of romantic comedies but i was impressed with this one.

I was also surprised at how much i enjoyed the romances not just between the leads but supporting couples. As mentioned, i feel like i've seen it all as far as dramas and nothing excites me but i enjoyed to the point of embarrassment the candid attraction between characters and the kisses actually had me questioning if i was still watching a kdrama. They are not usually that...real??

I don't tend to rewatch romantic comedies unless there's something i'm trying understand as far as the story/plot so that's the only reason i've given this a 5, it's not because i think poorly of it. The OST wasn't memorable either

I used to binge-watch weekend dramas because they are always so slow to start with and you can usually skip 20 episodes without jeopardising your understanding of the story but this was the first one i didn't binge watch, watched every weekend and was happy to wait for the next episodes the following week.

The story itself was not new but i liked the realistic portrayal of different types of families and the struggles they have to face. The difference being is this is set in Korea obviously where certain things run differently compared to if you're western. I found my own beliefs and understanding being questioned and tweaked as the show went on. The child actors were superb, to be able to deliver such realistic emotions...i'm really going to miss this merged family.

All was not perfect though, i like that dramas like this challenge ideas and general societal thinking but at the same time, i can't stand seeing hypocrisy/double standards and was sad to see a part of that go unresolved till the end.

As a long time kdrama addict, it's refreshing to find a kdrama like this.

I like a story that challenges me mentally, where i'm not struggling but still questioning what's happening, not because it's nonsense but there's something educational worth learning. Even after the drama has finished i find myself re-watching to see what more i can gleam. Unfortunately due to poor ratings the writer didn't have enough time to add more to this but maybe as kdramas go, this may have been a blessing, we'll never know. I'm baffled by his reactions in those different situations given his condition.
Aside from telling us what it was and what it means we had no real explanation which maybe was a good thing as i think my plot hole finding mind would have used that to pick at the drama.

I really disliked Park So Dam's character. She's supposed to be a traffic cop turned detective in the violent crimes division at that but she's literally not cut out for her own job. It is possible to ignore this lapse in logic so to speak as far as her character goes thanks to all else that is going on with the lead character and the politics behind the scenes, it's only difficult for about the first 4 episodes. If you can get through that it's worth it.
And aside from a few other mostly medical related plot holes, this is definitely my favourite show for the year. I thought i wouldn't have one this year, last year was Kill me Heal me and i was getting worried this year would just be the year of overly hyped shows that end up being nothing but disappointments but this one delivered almost every aspect.

Lastly, i don't tend to comment on OST but i will just say even if you don't watch the show, Bernard Park - Dirts. That is well worth listening to.
