All around excellent. Excellent writing, tight directing and editing, immaculate acting. Painful as fuck and a little difficult to bear but not numbingly so, it gives a really honest look on the micro level at humanity and societal pressure and the chain of hurt that comes from homophobia without seeming to really be about homophobia. I don't think I'll ever watch it again because my emotional fortitude is low, but I am glad I watched it once.
The way I know the storytelling was excellent is that I never thought about it while I was watching, but realized it wouldn't have been able to care as much if it was delivered differently.
I think all three main characters did amazing jobs. I hurt when they hurt; I hated them when they hated themselves; I loved them when they tried to heal.
