I don't think LJX has ever loved YN. He has no clue the type of person she is and what she values. He thinks that she would be grateful for him in getting her that noble title but it was exactly what she don't want. He only thinks he loves her because she was kind to him when he was at his weakest. If he really loves her, her needs and wants would be his top priority and not forcing her into loving him back.

I think some months must have passed since she moved out - LSY passed his 3rd exam and now working as an official, oldest daughter from 1st family got married, the store has been open for some time so things have been settled for a while.

Song girl is not some random chick. LJX approached her for the purpose of gaining power and let her think he was interested in marrying her. Song girl found out about LYN, hence she tried to get rid of her. So LJX is responsible for LYN falling off the cliff.

I saw she's in Dark night and dawn. I'm planning to watch that so will check out her acting chops lol

Oh I just google her and she graduated from Harvard so she is smart and talented unless she bribed her way in but I don't think that's likely. It's not China. But you're right, I'm sure money talks and some drama casting and decisions are based on the investors' conditions.

Sadly, I don't think they can since money making/investment is one of the biggest consideration for production. I never knew fans have so much power but seems like they can make or break the production if they are loud enough.

Ah ok thanks for your insight. It makes so much sense now, hence why some dramas used to be over 50 episodes because they were 'soap opera' genre. But I guess because of the new rule of 40 episodes max, it changes alot of things and viewers not liking other supports to take up the mains' screen time because it's limited. Production now have to cater to the major audience, hence some stories are compromised in terms of storytelling and plot. You add top billing, fanwars and censorship on top of that, I don't envy the production companies lol

Same. Thanks to Netflix, I began my journey with kdrama and Taiwanese dramas first but now I mainly watch cdramas.

I've only started watching c-dramas during covid so not familiar with the history but I noticed that most stories usually have 2nd couple. So are the audience becoming more impatient now? Is that why all these rushing and complaining whenever the main leads are not prominently feature in an episode.

IKR there are way more annoying 2nd lead couples in other dramas with way more screen time but they didn't get the hate these 2 got. I like them. They are cute, especially in the beginning with a bit of comedic relief.

When I see ML wearing red on top of a horse, my mind just goes to wedding lol It took me a sec to realize it's because he's parading to celebrate his achievement.

Couldn't have agreed more! I don't get all the hate on the 2nd couple either. They barely took 2-3 episodes out of 40 episodes and people wanted to boycott them along with the poor goose.

hahaha true. maybe I'll rewatch Minglan after this is done and I might get a better understanding. It was so long though and I think I might have dropped it after 50's episodes. I really can't remember how it ended.

You know that she ended up saving ML's life. If it wasn't for her, ML would have been shot with the arrow and taken down by LJX. She helped them get away when she set off the fireworks. Are we watching the same drama??
