Yes, maybe at one point when he was trying to get her father's approval for the project, he didn't outright rejected her advances, but she KNEW he was using her and he made it clear he has zero interest in her. I have a feeling the ex-girlfriend death is not an accident but a suicide and he sworn off love for some reason. That's why he picked Xu Yan as the perfect wife who he won't fall for because he sees her as a fraud and a gold digger.

Xu Yan is so lucky to have her grandmother. She was able to tell when she is unhappy by just a minute clip on TV. That's really knowing someone really well.

I can see why SHM thinks XY will be a suitable wife for him. Her ability to endure is really admiring. The way she tolerate his mother, his son, her coworkers, her family and especially Hao Ming. Anyone else would have made a fuss, the way they have treated her. I also think that's why he didn't believe she loves him, because she is not being her true self and just endures everything around her without complaining. She doesn't come to him for any help she has encountered.

I'm with you. Why is it that when she is also being manipulative and a liar but she's too good for him. You're seeing it from her point of view and you get to sympathize with her because of what she went through. I'll reserve judgement until I see his side.

I think it's a bit different in China though, due to the 1 child policy that was established for a few decades. I know it's no longer valid but old habits were already formed. With the household registration issue and illegitimate children don't have the same status, hence, being look down on. It's all about saving face, so I don't think you can compare with other part of the world.

But I think it is a big deal in China, having illegitimate children and especially as teenagers in a prominent family. If it's a daughter getting pregnant, they would ship them aboard to have the child. I guess I have been watching too many VDs and they all look down on illegitimate children and treated them less than human.
