Yeah I always thought he loves her but just didn't realize it until she is no longer in his life. I think he was too focus on proving his worth with his father by succeeding in his career so he set up the perfect wife who can assist him and he thought it was a mutually beneficial situation and didn't believe that she truly loves him. Now he's starting to believe that she loved him.
