I never expected to get hooked in this drama so much. I love the characters and mystery in every part of the series.…
iqiyi only posted 5 episodes for free on youtube. It's actually common that the first episode gets the most views. They do it to drive viewers to watch the remaining episodes on their app.
YT's character will be three dimensional and her presence in the 2nd season will be more prominent. Looks like their adventure will take place in a desert. https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/YKmUTns_hqQLtHGEAUtReg
It's interesting that they're curious as to how the show fares internationally. Do they know how intl. fans are as just curious how it fares in China? 😉 They seem impressed by the reviewers here. Your review is amazing! They quoted it!
Have you seen Vigilantes in Masks? It's old but it's really good. It has all the elements that you like.
I'm glad you like it! In my opinion it's slightly above Strange Tales. The fight scenes in Vigilantes are better and the romance is integrated well, not too much. Quite subtle but the chemistry is really good. Each character in the squad is distinct. The humor, the plot. It's one of the few wuxia dramas that I revisit from time to time. I wish they made a sequel of this drama.
26 episodes in. Enjoying this drama but have not been a fan of Yingtao being incorporated into the gang, particularly…
The female characters in the squad may not be appealing. PXJ and YT are supporting characters and if they were not there, I wouldn't miss them. But I'm not bothered by their presence plus they do actually help solving a few cases. They presence is much better than Song Yi in Luoyang or Wen Rou in Heroes who do almost nothing other than looking pretty and annoying. And TBH Wen Rou is worse that Song Yi. I can't get around why she's one of the main characters.
This drama is quite enjoyable to watch, and too bad not many people know about it. It deserves more attention.
I suppose iqiyi is hardly promoting this drama as it has no super well-known actors and almost no romance. Dramas that have high profile actors and focus on romances seem to get promoted massively.
It is still possible to like an artist's talent and works without having to like them as a person. Another example is Michael Jackson. Who doesn't know him, right? Everybody knows he's a legend but he wasn't free of scandals either. He was accused of child sexual abuse twice. It was huge. And yet I don't think people can deny that he was a musical genius, a prodigy and people have loved and will always love him for his talent and works.
Feel free to watch Yang Xuwen's works and judge them objectively. If they're good, don't feel guilty. And if they're bad, don't watch them.
Another LOCH remake?? I'm IN!! Let's gooo! I hope this time both actors do GJ and HR justice. The 2017 has very good Guo Jing but just OK Huang Rong. Meng Zi Yi as Mei Chaofeng?.. Umm I don't know. I'm a bit nervous. I feel that she's too beautiful. But I keep an open mind. I'm curious. Mei Chaofeng is one of my favorite characters in LOCH. Hope she does justice.
We should be able to separate the artist from the artist's work. Actors are not angels and neither are we. There are many actors who have questionable life but strangely are also talented. Look at Johnny Depp. He's had numerous legal issues and yet he's a brilliant actor. Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorshands to name a few of his works. Pirates of the Caribbean wouldn't have been critically successful without him.
The work of an artist is not his or her work alone but the work of many people such as director, screenwriter, make-up artists, costume designer, prop and set designer and hundreds more people. Just think of these hundreds of people when you watch his drama and his character instead of him as an actor.
Yes it took them 7 months to film a 36 episode drama, it's too long 😂
I haven't watched Fox Volant 2022. I keep putting off watching it. I've read the synopsis and seen the trailer of the drama. Looks like my type of wuxia. But I also know that it has romances that might be emotionally draining for me 😆 Will watch it someday for sure. But I can easily believe that it took that long to film the fight scenes. I saw some snippets and they look really good!
I've watched 4 wuxia dramas (including SToTD) produced by Guo Jingyu's team and I really liked all of them. All of them are not draggy, tight plot, well-defined characters, well-designed costumes and props, and, most importantly, well-choreographed fight scenes. This is the second time YXW has worked with them, isn't it?
On a side note, it's interesting that you referred to LLF instead of YXW 😊 When people remember the character instead of the actor, I think that proves that the actor has done the job well.
I believe that the original novels (there are 3) are just a collection of short stories that fictionalise a series…
Central Academy is the best acting school in China? Wow, that's cool. By the way, found this footage on SToTD's weibo showing LLF in tears. https://weibo.com/tv/show/1034:4820778949214217? For some reason they didn't include this scene. I think it shows how good he is as an actor. Hopefully we get to hear his own voice in his future dramas.

Didn't he use his own voice?? I didn't know that. Why? I thought that was his own. It's so convincing. That's a pity.. Did he go to a proper drama school?
