So funny that people born and living in big cities, especially capital cities, look down on everyone not born/living…
Another totally illogical point. Sorry, but I must throw that out... Who thinks it is a good idea to hide at Mum's place? I mean, it is not a secret that Palm is the familiy's servant and took Nueng away. Police will always start searching at relative's places, as will probably also every hitman do. If it was the uncle, he knows Palm and his role (they met some episodes ago). He is mafia - would be easy to find out about Palm's relatives and the mother, where she is etc...

i just shut off my brain when i watch so i could enjoy this series. the writers are so unserious istg.also, chopper…
Good advice. But the story is really so illogical that I am forced to think here. I really want to shut off my brains, but as soon as a new scene starts, I am rebooting...

I love that they have a Chinese guy proposing on the show given how homophobic and awful China is to the LGBTQIA+…
It's not "China" it is mostly the Chinese government and its bureaucrats. China has an extremely large gay/lesbian scene, and even transsexuals are able to come out. In most cases, when LGBT has problems it is because they go too public (like TV series and movies do) and become too political (in the meaning, too critical of the government). It is the same here in Vietnam. I can literally do what I want, as long as I am not political in public. You just don't want to piss off the Communist Party, neither in China, nor in Vietnam.

So funny that people born and living in big cities, especially capital cities, look down on everyone not born/living there. Otherwise I cannot explain why we haven't seen anything like a TV, a phone, or Internet. Yes, such cultural developments also exist in South Thailand, though I understand that that area must look like a Thai jurassic park for someone who is only used to Bangkok. People from New York probably think someone in Nebraska lives like prehistoric troglodytes.
I mean they do a lot of press conferences. And I am also sure they showed Nueng's picture on TV. I do not therefore see that it is plausible that a) Nueng does not know about his mother, whether she is alive or not, and b) that people would not recognise him.

Biased about this. It is too early for me to judge this series. Episode 1 had some points which I absolutely did not like. The mesaage "He was killed...because he had sex". I know, a lot of people will now say...boah, why so serious? It's a joke. Yeah, I know. Okay, you can find homophobia everywhere, if you just dig patiently enough. But I am tired of such statements in BL series.

And then...20 seconds later, we see a bunch of naked guys playing basketball.
I stopped there, had a morning walk, said Happy New Year to my neighbours and enjoyed the first coffee in the year of the cat.
Then I watched more. The episode was quite okay, so so... I can clearly see why a lot of people have fun with this. Maybe it is me. Maybe I have just watched too many Thai BL. Or I am getting too old for this? Or is it the fact that I am not really into this age group (I like more 30 and up, but hard to find, at least in Thai BL where even elderly are played by 20yo - remember Oxygen?).

This isn't a recommendation. In fact, I invite all to watch it. It's for free on Youtube anyway., so no loss.

Ah, and to all in East Asia: A Happy Year of the Cat (in Vietnam) or Year of the Rabbit (outside).

i really like this show idk why.. something about the atmosphere
I like this show too, but on the other side I am a bit upset/confused??? that this show has 8.4 while My School President is 8.5. There are worlds in between those series regarding acting, fun, script and directing....

I am not teenager enough anymore to understand why the one excludes the other. Aren't there any singers, actors, artists on this planet who are married?

I am an ordained monk. Not sure what the screenwriter is up to, but if they follow normal customs, Syn would take…
Yes, sure, they must be celibate. However, it depends all on the school of Buddhism you are ordained in. Southern Buddhism, ie. Theravada, which is prominent in Sri Lanka and Thailand, asks for absolute celibacy of monks. In the Northern Buddhism in China, this is also practiced. In Japan, as you already mentioned, the "monks" do not follow these rules and are allowed to marry and have children. They are therefore called priests instead of monks. Some do vow celibacy, though.

There are several sets of rules.
- every Buddhist, be it monk or lay person, usually follows the 5 basic precepts: not kill, steal, no illegal sex, lie and no use of alcohol/drugs. The last one is usually broken by most lay people. On the Buddha days (4 times a month), there is a set of 8 precepts.
- Novices have to hold on 10 basic precepts (the 5 above plus 5 others, for instance, not alowed to go to party/theater or touch money). The third, the illegal sex, is changed to "no sex at all" for novices (and also monks).
- Monks will have to hold fully on all monk rules, which depend on the school of Buddhism. There are between 227-249 rules.

Having sex is the first rule of all and a so called "broken" rule. If you do that you will lose your status as monk (you can stay in the temple, but will be lifelong a novice, which is a disgrace, so most broken monks will leave).

In other countries, however, like Japan it is a bit different.

If Syn gets ordained, wouldn't there be an expectation of celibacy? I've read of some Buddhist monks in Japan…
I am an ordained monk. Not sure what the screenwriter is up to, but if they follow normal customs, Syn would take the pabbaja ceremony and become a novice. This is what Thai boys and men usually do once in their life. You can do for some weeks, or months, and then just go back to normal, secular life. You can also stay a novice for some years and become then a fully ordained monk. As a novice he must stay celibate. But to be honest, a lot of novices aren't. I mean, those are often just normal boys and men who stay for some weeks. As long as they do not have sex publicly nothing won't happen (The spiritual realm left outside).

I guess they do not need to discuss a relationship, because Syn might come back in some weeks. Thai BL depicts everything so inevitably. It is not that Syn will become a lifetime monk.

I like a lot of series he has written or was part of the writers' team.
Not to mention that he really looks gorgeous. Like his smile here. He should try acting. I would watch it :D

Okay, it is finished. I liked it, otherwise I would not have invested time watching it.
Just want to name two points I did not like:
1. Lifeless world. Okay, all are in the bunkers. But that's not how human psychology works. Ever been in evecuation situations? I have been threetimes. Once in Germany, when a World War II bomb was found at a site I was working on; and twice here in Vietnam, during a flood and a typhoon. You wonder, how many people do not comply with official evacuation...

2. Lengths. I mentioned it once before, but there are so many periods of inactivity in this series. Can they not talk AND drive? Why have they to stop for 10 min and talk? Or just stand around? Or sit around doing nothing, while they literally have only 1day or 1 hour left to live?

I liked the idea. After realising, and getting some hints from fellow commenters here, I dropped my "scientific" analysis. This is a BL and , yeah, there was a nice development in between the main leads. Not so sure about the side couple, how to explain their relationship. I actually felt not much in the last episode, regarding the main leads' relationship. They hugged sometime, and kissed. But Art and Golf often stood quite distant from each other. Again, that is not how I feel someone would react, whose life expectancy is less than 30min. The end was okay. I think a lot of people might be disappointed/unsatisfied. Some of the previous episodes had more "emotion", to be honest.

Despite those points, as I said, I liked this series.

The YT comments are always positive. I wonder if negative comments are locked there, as they do with the thumbs down now. I would consider myself an average viewer and in most cases I feel something is bad, when it is bad (and opposite). When I read through YT I always think I am going to watch a masterpiece. I think, it is because YT does not really want a discussion/argument in their comment section, while MDL is there to just do that.

And there's eng subs on part 3 and 4 omg I can't
I just checked. I have no subs at all. I watched yesterday the premiere at 8.40pm and the first two parts had subs. I dropped it when part 3 came and had no subs. Now they've gone for all parts here. They probably upload them later or tomorrow.
