Watched the special episode and it was so cutee. Thank goodness it existed because the abrupt ending was so not it. And as much as I loved the happy ending, I wish they at least tried to provide some explanation. The final arc and the plot in general was pretty underwhelming but I enjoyed the humour and Huayong's theatrics, so it's still an overall 8.5/10.

I don't know where you were when this drama was airing but there were plenty of people here too who called out the ML's manipulative behaviour. Some people still liked him in spite of it, but it was generally acknowledged that he was red flag and many of his actions were problematic.

Wuyi said that he fell in love at first sight so there's no concrete 'why' he loves her but every time she helped him with his blindness, his brother, his mother - his love grew stronger.

For Jiayu, I thought it was easier to see her emotional transition. At first, she liked Li Mao and was solely focused on him as a love interest and saw and helped Wuyi only as a friend. After Li Mao entered the palace, she could feel him growing distant and she also started questioning her feelings until they had a clear breakup when she confronted him about not leaving the palace and taking a consort. Then she had a duration where she focused on herself when she asked Wuyi for a divorce and still saw Wuyi as somewhat of a friend until they met again in Liangfeng fort (?) when she fell in love with him.

That also works, I'm still waiting to forget everything so that I can finally rewatch lol. Yup, I am!

Just watched the first ep and I'm invested but what in the short drama is this plot and direction 😭 Wait is this actually classified as a short drama?

That's good to hear! Is it a miracle doctor👀? Even though I did say I'll take even the miracle doctor, I do hope they have a more plausible explanation for the cure lol. (No wait, don't give me spoilers, I'll wait till I watch it)

The way I keep loving Huayong more and more every day. I'm not ready to let him go and even less ready to see him die. I'll take a random miracle doctor at this point as long as he can see his child grow and spend the rest of his long life with Xihe 😭

Um to each their own ig. It's a drama so whether it's normal or not is not exactly relevant. When watching dramas, physical intimacy is always secondary for me, and I rather appreciate the emotional journey leading up to it. Looking back, seeing Xihe slowly warming up and coming to terms with her feelings and knowing how much this means to Huayong makes every interaction they'll have from now on so much more meaningful to me. So yeah, the wait was worth it for me.

I get if you think the 'chasing' dragged on, I might've had too, but the chase has never been more fun for me and I enjoyed Huayong's antics way too much to find it annoying.

Not Prince Xin providing bgm for their romantic moment 🤣🤣

Omg finallyyy and that kiss was so worth the wait. After 26 episodes, it feels so nice to see Xihe finally not pushing Huayong away like man I genuinely feel happy for him 😭 And the preview ahh!!

Li Mao and the FL are not related. Xie Jiayu is adopted.

I didn't read the novel, but I very highly doubt it. From my understanding, she has some serious karmic retribution coming her way through Xihe.

If you knew your wife killed your ex-fiancé, manipulated you into marrying her and even willingly killed your unborn child, how can your next action be knowingly drinking the very poison she prepared for you? Man are you serious?

Yup it's safe. The romance is completely clean and age-appropriate and still really good. You should totally give this a try.

I'm usually a big memory loss hater but it was done well here and their reunion was beautiful; the miracle cure was at least not completely out of the blue and make sense to me. I anticipated Lejun dying ages ago but her death was also handled so well, and I loved how it rippled through everyone. And finally Li Mao, thank you for not turning him into a blind obsessive second male lead. All my energy in trying to understand and defending him has not been in vain. I love when characters make mistakes and grow from them and despite all the frustrations, I think Li Mao needed to go through all the trials and errors to gain experience and become a good ruler.

Finished watching and I loved the ending.
