I don't like what the writers did with Qiu Min's character. This is not the kind of "development" we want to see.…
I don't think what happened to her is far-fetched. QM was the weakest lamb of the pack. She was too vulnerable and didn't adapt to their life in the brothel like the members of her family.
Also, her "principles" stems from her moral high ground. It was okay for her sister to be buried alive or have to live in a covent for the remainder of her life because according to her chastity was so important. Her sister was dirty because she sacrificed herself and became a courtesan to help their family live better in the brothel.
QM was problematic in a lot of ways when it came to women's condition. Now that she got raped, why didn't she follow through her principles instead of hiding what happened to her ?
It's because the "principles" she have might have been mere reasons to get rid of the sister whose shadow she was living in.
Her epiphany when she was about to drown herself was just an excuse to stay alive imo. She didn't have any to begin with otherwise, she wouldn't have gone to endanger QX by going to him after running away and even worse, raping him to salvage her "reputation". Because it's so much better for her having her chastity taken away by an eligible bachelor than by the guy in the brothel.
I don't agree with people saying the author chose the easy way out when they had QM raped.
This girl was basically horrid. She thought herself above herself and prized virtue above everything else. She was ready to have her sister being buried or into a convent for a husband she barely knew ; she basically called her sister disgusting because she was actually doing something to help their family live better by becoming a courtesan (while even her cousins and aunts supported QY because she was helping the family live better).
Being raped might have been a way for the author to having QM be on the other side so that for lack of empathy, her own experience will make her understand that the value of a woman doesn't solely lie in her chastity.
I'm sorry am I the only one who thought that it was obviously going to be awkward dating your ex's brother? And…
Exactly ! I thought it was a cheap and ridiculous trick to try to make it angsty.
I almost dropped the drama when I understood they were going there but I don't know why I foolishly kept watching this slowmo trainwreck.
It would have worked had they gone all out. By making SHK be the widow of the late-brother or being the ex-wife of the living brother. It would have been much more interesting and we would have been able to understand all the opposition around this relationship.
Because seriously all that jazz happening for a 2-month relationship that no one knew about and that took place 10 years ago is ludicrous. It's ridiculous that SHK's character is hung up on a guy that seemingly ghosted her (she didn't know he died) and in which she wasn't invested enough to try and know the reason why he had ghosted her. In this day and age, she didn't try googling his name and profession to try and find out about him during the last 10 years ?

She tells around episode 10/12 if I remember correctly.
They'll separate shortly at the one before last episode but will get back together.
People seriously need to move on.
