Yeah it's very telling..cause if it's good with interesting char arcs ppl will talk about it more than abt the look, costumes ..all things that are just visuals...

The right way🙂When I don't know the actors, the comments help. If I see that the comments are just he/she is beautiful, etc...and no more meaningful discussion about the story and arcs...it usually tells me that the drama is shallow, just eye candy.

I understand that actors must do what the role demands... and here Jiuchuan from the novel was described as disturbingly thin...barely human at the beginning who crawled out from a mass grave borrowing the severely damaged corpse...nd i appreciate the dedication...
he's still young tho... so he can still balance it out relatively okay..but hope that he won't be needing many more these types of roles..

Yeap..and another change seems to be the timeline. In the novel... the investigation happens within 48 hours...but in the drama ...based on a few reuters and the synopsis... it’s more like after 4 years. So it looks like the story will move back and forth btw these two timelines..

I first wrote my reply about the novel, but then realized that I mixed up pages. 🙂There's a novel for his drama Hun Pan Jiuchuan..and i though I'd opened that page so I wrote about that novel here, lol.

There's also a novel for this drama. I'll check if I saved the info about it nd post it here if i find it. Some changes were made. In the novel Li Sibo and Zhou Yi were 14..here 18..but the main plot points from the novel are the same...

I am really thinking abt writing the one fr..i just have too much material about almost every character..even some guest ones..soo i just need to find time when i can focus to start writing ..

Lol...his brain was sizzling from even having to think about giving a happy ending so we got some weird edits in the last two episodes 😆

It ended...there’s really no need for a sequel...gjm kind of traumatized me with this “happy ending” attempt 😁 I’m so used to his usual endings...death or separation...that I don’t know what to do with this..lol

But yeah, the story is done for me. From what I’ve seen about this youku pitch...S2 wouldn’t even be a sequel...just a different cast nd the story in the same universe. So even if it happens...and I doubt it..it would stand on its own.
If they go again with some popular names...their fandoms will be happy. Fine with me..I’ll tune in if the story and acting actually look promising..

GJM has a new project coming up. He went back to iQiyi, and he didn’t even say this...it was a Youku producer. This first development phase can mean pretty much anything or nothing at all.

Tbh I see it more as a PR move....just giving people smth to talk about...vos is trending again...merch is picking up, and they can drop little updates here and there to keep it in the hot search. If Youku really wants the same universe with another cast, gjm just has to sell them the necessary IP rights for them to start building...he'll profit regardless of the success.

Yeah, it is. If you go to the page...you’ll see really interesting essays from people breaking down the story, deeper themes and the Chinese philosophy behind it...if you like to dive deeper into things. I really love some of the dialogue, some of the best I’ve seen in a while.
Think it’s getting downvoted for two reasons. One is Luo Yunxi...he seems to have some hardworking haters....which I don’t really get cause I think he’s a really good actor. The second is that it’s not romance focused..and those usually get downvoted by people who are just annoyed there isn’t much romance.

The rating dropped within an hour or two, which says a lot, but this is not the only drama where I've seen such organized attacks within hours ..Whispers of Fate had two drastic ones. It recovered from the first one but never from the second one, and it stayed around 8.0.

It's easy to check someone's work on mdl...just minutes to see what dramas, movies, with whom, the directors, etc. But for some, it's easier and more convenient to just say the same... gjm...not to break the narrative ..

He already has 5 projects with different directors.. 4 finished and one ongoing. In one gjm is just a producer...gjm has nothing to do with the other 4. Rui has his own studio and gets casted through auditions.
