Ooh wow, how is it going? I was curious and i started with the basics. Was fascinated by the tones first. So i started with that, repeating mostly ma sounds and similar.. On the Chinese ebook website there's info that the whole novel with all the extra chapters (440) was finished on November 18, 2025. However... on another ebook site with an AI English translation.. the last extra chapters were uploaded some three months ago. Now...I don't know when she started to write the script but based on what the she said, it looks like she really started writing it before the novel ended.
I also follow one creator, who is Rui's fan... who read the novel and... is uploading clips from bts nd even the snippets from the novel..based on the comments it looks like the drama will follow the novel as a framework but with changes..meaning the very basic storyline from the novel will be followed...like back from the dead, the fragile body, the estranged family..the Gong family (not all Gongs) and Feng Ya, the revenge plot, the main antagonist and his identity, and his use of dark sorcery until it becomes a threat to the mortal world will all be included in the drama.
Some other characters will be out some changed..or even new. Jiang Li seems to be a male in the novel and here is a female but his arc seems also changed.. The subplots within the basic storyline will mostly be changed, deleted, or new ones added, and the comm confirmed this. I've read the last chapter, from where the main novel ended, but I have no idea how the drama will end cause the timeline seems to have changed too....how things are unfolding, so I'm really not sure what will happen with Jiuchuan in the end. The extra chapters written later definitely make things more confusing about what the director in the end basically cooked for us... ofc errything i wrote is just how i got it based on my skimming of the novel and these comm i follow..
I don't think any of this will shut up ppl..it never stopped them ..they are ready to make things up if necessary..as proven..so some reactions are to be expected..but the woman writer sold the IP rights to another woman to write the scripts with the changes ....they agreed on this..and this should be engh..Rui was picked from the start for this character...they can ask them for the comments..

The censors asked for some scenes to be cut, so it went from the original 30 episodes to 29. If each episode was planned to be 40 to 45 minutes long from the start this could mean that up to 45 minutes had to be removed. Though it doesn't sound like much, it is.. My guess is that all the scenes implying a "reborn" narrative were cut. These could have been cut throughout the drama or perhaps from the last episodes, so that may explain some hectic editing there...tho I doubt the ending or the main story was much affected. Cause to me...it looked like how gjm envisioned an Avengers Endgame type of ending, with many heroes on screen trying to win an ultimate battle..they are not easy to edit by default with everything happening everywhere with everyone all at once..lol...nd tho i like GJM’s work editing def isn't his best skill.. I think it will be used against him by antis and some haters. My guess is that the more it gains traction... the more active they'll be. Even the initial backlash didn't seem organic made by the novel fans, based on the comments I've read. No, it was the director. She had been waiting more than a year or two 🤔for him to become available specifically for this role. The script was written by her or another woman...not entirely sure about that part. Anyhow....I read that the script was written before the novel ended... there'll be other changes..not just the gender swap, tho I think there’s another one ...but male to female change with Jiang Li character.. For me, the most important thing was the IP rights. They were bought here to allow those changes. In general ppl prefer adaptations to follow the original book characters..but we’ve seen so many swaps both ways. There will always be people really yelling about it. Women are louder when it’s about female to male changes and more quiet when the opposite happens...the same goes for men. For me, it really depends on how the adaptation is advertised. If they say smth like we’ll follow the book..stay true to the story and then don’t...that’s def smth to complain about. But if it’s clearly a loose adaptation from the start.... like the same universe or where the book is a framework, with many changes then it’s fine. The director said exactly this from the start...so we all know what to expect. I’ve seen loose adaptations work well, where I knew from the start, and that would be the case here.
