here are at least several films that feature women as characters, inmcluding women seeking vengeance, although I'm not sure how I feel about that, it always feels like they are expliting the proverb hell has no fully like a woman hurt or scorned. I also guess there is like a schema all filmmakers try to follow in order to sell but also please the critics.

But the point about confirmiity, is right I think. But each culture will have their threshhold of confimirty. Any film that tries to break it will meet the resistance on the part of especially conservative parts of society and be branded. But then again those Polish films full of pathos that I mentioned are a bit unfairly treated by the young, too. Those films full of pathos are defended by conservatists, in turn. There is concern about values deteroriating more than they already are, but I wouldn't say it's just Asian thing.

try watching any of the Polish films dealing with important matters. Those films are all about a sense of Pathos. Not that I;m discrediting them, but as a Pole I do get tired of same old pathos, glorifying people who were also people, not just statuettes. like the film about John Paul II. People in Poland get really ried of the pathos and Polosh cinema hasn;t been in good shape for years. There are one or two filmmkaers who are trying to break the moul but.. in this respect I think you are right because I would say all cultures have their tick boxes. But if we are watching from the perspectivr of another culture, I guess thise tick boxes won't be noticeable because the films are made from the perspective of a culture that is different to one's own. I'm just not sure I agree about men always being the protagonist.

Hi Pretty Careye. That's all right. Lol. Thank you for the warning. My path is vastly different at the moment. I'm doing a literary PhD and it's just that I've seen and been through some really dirty corners of the academia along this road. I shed stoo many tears than it's worth it, but I guess I;m starting develop some professional resilience thanks to that to the point that it;s becoming difficult for me to disassociate myself from the idea of continuing down this path, even though it;s a path that requires either remianing a conformist or having powerful allies. I'm definitely not after glamorous. Universities are not all they are advertised to be, either, you see.

Hi! Busy bit too stressed too care this weekend :D It;s hard not to compare when Donnie had such a strong presence. But I'll have a watch one of these days I like the character. I know what happened. I had a lookt at episode 6 and 7. It really took on qualities of some quasi melo. I don;t like that impriosned woman. She's up to something.

Ok but I still protested loudly against it when news about it were announced on MDL :P American series do not always have good sequels- I find this to me an overstatement. American series in fact go downhill very quickly because they drag on and on and on. Sequeles hardly ever work well. I am fan of one-shot completed stories. Sequeles bring all the work down. Lol? Qhat would make you say that about boys and girls?

I thought legal high 2 woyld be disappointing. I don;t want to say I told you so but I am just not surprised to hear that! The first episode was quasi melodrama! I see; well then Soldier will be somwhere on my ptw soon, though I DO sometimes watch endings first and I don;t mind ha ji won so I may well watch Empress Ki. Get some sleep then! It;s weekend! I haven't watched 1993 even yet ad I was the one wh protested when news about 1994 came out because I do dislike sequels- and I have reasons to, as legal hugh 2 shows. For now I actually finished May Queen. I liked several side characters a lot but it;s the typical cheap thrill drama, but funny at times so I found it acceptable.

z polkskim kinem skonczylam chyba na "U Pana Boga za piecem" :P Potem zdarzylo mi soe cos obejrzec- ogladalm vhyba Boiosko bezdomnych, Tatarak albo Ryse, Wojtyle, Katyn Ogniem i Mieczme (ale zawiodlam sie, Zamachowski to nie Lomnicki, a ostatnio szczegolnie mnie irytuje swoim zachowaniem publicznie, gwiazdeczka z niego ostatnio a nie aktor). W kazdym razie niewiele z polskiego kina widzialam, chociaz slyszalam. Caly czas mam w planach Roze, czy Rozyczke nie wiem ktory to tyul, ale chyba tez rezysera Pod Mocnym Aniolem. Czekaj Wesele as in adaptacja Wyspianskiego? Nawet nie wiedzialam ze istnieje jakas nowa adaptacja.

:D Yeah the children were too adoirable but I also liked the husband wolf a lot. Moreover, there was so much going on there- acceptance, accepting one's legacy and place in the world, finding oneself, being a mother.. very rich in themes. Which one, the one called sanpo? Ghibli movies usually have very good, catchy OST.
