It's like Saving private ryan, but the emphasis is put more on the human drama of two brothers (who to me stand for all other brothers of the divided nation) very intense and heart-wrenching, and it gives an insight into a piece of Korean history, the division of the nation into North and South and the resulting war of 1950-53, shows the war essentially and emotions play out in all their terrifying power. Well in PL, where I did most of my coursework (I am only writing MA in England), I had crash courses in year 1 and 2, that included two literatures , hstory and cultural classes. In year 3, we were starting to choose seminars and we had internships to do at schools, but they have nothing to do with any one subject, and seminars are more like showcasing some more advanced aspects of some of the basic issues we discussed in earlier years. In England, there are three UG levels, ending with a BA and then there is 1-2 yerar MA programme, which is already postgraduate and the difficuly level changes in as much more is expected from students who already know some of the basics, they also have optional modules they can choose in level 2, much like seminars in PL, for a zoom in on some aspects they may be interested in.

Well, there is a scene in episode 8 (I am just in the middle of episode 9 now) with the son which worried me a lot, because for the time being it has been left and it will surely have consequences in the future. I can't tell you because you haven't watched it yet but I do think it will have a bearing either it will turn pout, as you suggested, that he is not his son, or maybe that it will cause more trouble for him as the ex-convict..in any case an innocent scene like that I aw in ep 8 will likely provide a deux ex machina for some future event. At the same time I really feel, based on ep 7, like the son feels like at home with him and Angel and he is starting to appreciate him, because like his father he also doesn;t really belong aywhere. so even if not biological, I feel they are already a family. It's just the kind of film which etirely shakes you up. The tragedy of two brothers is focused in but you never lose sight of the tragedy of the entire nation of such brothers.

The story is so deeply humane you will feel it everywhere, it's also a very realistic portrayal of war and its effects . Realistc also quite graphic and you may expect iuntensity and a very epiphanic experience all togethere. It's a story of brotherhood torn. Quite algeorical, and relying on irony. It's a powerful tale you are not likely to forget and a piece of history too.

I think Romy Schneider is the most loved version and the one with most accolades, hence I am familair with the name and her Sissi has been sitting on my plan to watch lists for some time now, so I recognised that image lol. I was first inspored to ivnestigate more about Sissi since I watched the cartoon series as a child and felt there was something real behaind all the usuall cartoony fluff. But I still liked the cartoon series.

Well, the 2009 mini series it seemed to focus heavily on the unhappy marraige theme but and in detail on personal problems and political problems of the empire; Sissi seemed to be very asserive, a kind of person that is strong and not a marionette, a good plitician and spontaneous person, the kind of person who will not hesitate to say 'You must" to her husband monarch lol. I kinda liked her. The general atmosphere seemed good, sentimental music, the sets authentic. Although I did read some reviews that the 2009 actress is def not Roma, so this version's Sissi may not be to your liking. I can't compare since I haven;t yet watched this version and since I'm not particulary well versed in that period of history, there may well be inaccuracies and some deficiencies.
