In my eyes, this is mostly a political drama. Everyone who's manly here for romance will be kinda disappointed, cause you have to wait at least till around ep 30.
Personally, I love how original and unique this drama is. You don't see the dark ML trope often, and he's just delicious, the actor portrays his character so well, it's awesome (the actor of FL was great too but i didn't like the icy character of her role)
Overall, the end was worth everything beforehand, I laughed so hard, I just loved how ML stayed true to himself (see spoilers) 😂❤️❤️❤️

While the series just annoyed and frustrated me (especially because of MLs immature and behavior), the movie made everything up to me! The plot made more sense, the acting of ML was more mature and understandable and the focus was more on the main storyline.
So, if your as disappointed as me after watching the series, I'd recommend to go and watch the movie, too ❤️❤️

The movie is better by far! Even though it's shorter, the plot makes more sense and the characters (especially ML) act more mature and more understandable.
So, I 'd definitely recommend watching the movie.
(The only thing I don't get is why the rating of the series is higher than the movie.. It should definitely be the other was around.)

I especially loved the first 10 eps were ML and FL were equally strong, intelligent and protected each other. But as it continued it became more and more the typical 'ML, the overall hero' trope. Another critique : they repeated too many plotlines, which became rather tiresome..
Nonetheless, I've watched till the end, and it was only for ML. I knew the actor beforehand, but I'd say this is his best work so far. In my eyes, he carried the drama on his back and without him it wouldn't have worked at all. (FL was OK, but personally I'd say she's not the best in portraying emotions. Especially sadness wasn't her thing at all)
So overall it was kind of OK to watch (some skipping here and there helped), but in my eyes, it's overrated.
I thought there were no intimate scenes in this series cause it's chinese so what was there to cut 🤔
Even though it's censored, there are many obvious hints in the original version, that there is more going on than just friendship (for example one time they're holding hands, or while riding the motorbike they get very close to each other, trying to protect each other from the rain (hugging and cuddling) and so on) I don't exactly know why but viki cut those scenes out as well... 😒
I rewatched it for the xy time and I stil love it, those two make a delicious pairing 😘
