when will the romance start?
If you mean when they become a couple, then this is somewhere after episode 20. If we are talking about romance in principle, then there will be hints from the very beginning, and there will be more of it after the 10th episode. Just be prepared that the plot here is not only about romance. For me, this is the positive side of this drama (even though I really love the main couple), but some people watch such dramas only for the pure romantic plots.

The actors or the characters in the drama?
Well, they're actors, that's their job. Just because they kiss someone on screen doesn't mean anything personal in real life. It's just an act. Their families must understand this.

how's the chemistry of the leads???? is there a lot of screentime? how's the romance???
I think Yu Shuxin and Ding Yuxi have a lot of chemistry together, enough that they would be a couple in another drama. There is no particular intensity of passion here, but there are no wildly disappointing moments either. I think this series has one of the most satisfying and enjoyable love stories. The ending is also valuable for its completeness. The drama is quite calm and if there are any difficulties in the relationship, they are resolved quickly enough, there are no protracted love triangles or misunderstandings.

Criminally underrated. Steals all limelight from famous "flower boy" actors whenever he appears on screen. Painfully…
Absolutely agree, I first saw him in "Moonlight" and it was like “damn, he’s good.” I was very surprised to find out that he has so few roles in good dramas, especially main ones. He's very charismatic.

Well, drama "sword and fairy" itself is based on a game. The source of this new drama is a web novel. So there must be a difference in the adaptations of these two dramas. "Love Between a Fairy and a Devil" is also based on a novel and the same screenwriter will be here.

Well, this thing, of course, is purely subjective and depends on each viewer individually, but if we take into account the bickering relationships, chemistry, not entirely strictly historical setting and chinese dramas, then I've Fallen for You (2020) with Yu Shuxin, Legally Romance (2022), Skate Into Love (2020), The Love You Give Me (2023), Hi Venus (2022)

Well, I think it would be easier to just ignore such individuals, since they simply don’t realize how annoying they are to others with the same type of comments over and over again. It's a tough case. Like, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it, no one is forcing you. It just seems like someone has too much free time.

Add more emoji to make it clearer. Were there no other arguments? Having nothing to answer intelligently, you start attacking with insults? I would rather be a granny, like you claim I am,
than a cranky toddler like you. Judging by your expressions, provocations and the number of emojis, it hurt you much more when you called a child, although this is not even an insult, but a statement of fact. But it’s also boring for me to deal with a person with a very limited vocabulary. And this is a public forum, not your personal property, if you don’t want answers, don’t write. Chao, kid

Girl, are you hysterical from your own “funny” jokes? Take some calming pills. Yes, I’m older than you, but I’m still far from a grandmother. The more you leave such offensive comments, the more you humiliate yourself and no one else. It just shows the child in you more. So it’s clearly not for you to talk about someone’s maturity, since you haven’t reached it yourself.

I just find it extremely funny that ShuXin is accused of childishness by the children themselves. Who themselves talk like children. First watch how you speak before blaming and teach others. It's much better to have a childish voice and say smart things than to have a mature voice and say stupid things. It only dishonors the one who says it.

How old are you, child? 15?16? This is what your comments look like. Mature people don't talk like that.

No, I didn’t miss this memory, literally the only one in the three years of their life together. And what new did we learn from there? The situation simply copies one of many in the show, where one gets into trouble, the other saves, this situation does not even have any normal intro. We found ourselves in the middle of a tiny episode. Yes, it's cute and that's all. Did we learn anything new about the past of these characters or were we just repeating one situation out of many similar ones?
Did I say that I want more kisses? I said that I wanted to see where their friendship began, how it was built, at least in fragments. Just saying that they knew each other for three years is not enough. I love the chemistry between Xu Kai and Esther, and I find their characters interactions cute, but I don't find myself particularly invested in their relationship, for me it came out of nowhere, it doesn't feel earned. They could have just remained close friends and that would have been enough, this type of show doesn't even necessarily need romance. Even if they have at least a hundred kisses, without a normal backstory it still won’t work.
And I said that Zhao's character needed more backstory and characterization. At least it would be possible to more clearly separate him from Bian.

It may be easier for a fan of the game to delve into the lore of the drama, already knowing the lore of the game in advance, but this is difficult for an outside viewer. Fans therefore may not notice certain problems. The task of the drama creators is not only to please fans of the game, but also to make it easier for ordinary viewers to understand if they want popularity not only among fans of the game.

That's why I mentioned the "show, don't tell" rule. I know that the ML has no memory, but he remembers those three years with Qi in the village, their first interactions. Why don't we show them at least in flashback format, if not at the beginning, then in the middle of the story? We were shown glimpses of the history of Qi and Bian. It would have given at least something to the character. It’s hard to care deeply about a complete blank slate, relying solely on the imagination of the viewer himself “figure out the rest yourself.” And I understand that this is not pure romance, but there are still romantic couples here. They also need to be able to be built correctly in the plot so that the audience really cares about these relationships.

It doesn't matter what type of story it is, if you should care about the characters. And it’s not possible to care much about characters that you don’t even really know what they are all about. At the end of the story, I noticed that I like more Bian Luo Huan than Yue Jin Zhao because at least towards the end we are given some kind of backstory to Bian, while with Jin Zhao, even at the end it is not clear what exactly he is. And not only in romance should a certain development of relationships be shown. All these details increase the emotional involvement of viewing. Otherwise, all these sad and funny scenes, even those wonderfully played by actors, lose their value. So those "not made for everyone" means it is made mostly only for hardcore fans SAF game series, thats it.

I can understand twinty. Its not just "not true romance drama" problem, for me in SAF 6 there is a lack of some substance storytelling problem. The lack of many important scenes and details for the story. The golden rule of any good movie is “show, don’t tell.” We're given a lot of exposition for the characters, but very little actual showing of it on screen. For example, we were never shown how exactly the main leads lived after waking up in the village before meeting the others. We are given too little actual background on the character even at the end. A game is a game, and a drama is a drama; a correct adaptation is needed specifically for the drama, because not only fans of games can watch it, not only fans of the game need to understand what is going on , but casual viewers too. . The actors' performances are remarkable, but this does not alleviate the script's problems.

It is also important to remember that there are two different love tropes being used here. "Love Between Fairy and Devil"- "from enemies to lovers" plus complete opposites attract and in "Sword and fairy"- "from best friends to lovers" and the two characters are similar in many ways. This is why the chemistry in "Love Between Fairy and Devil" can seem more intense and chemistry in "Sword and fairy" softer and calmer.
