I think you are right. JC is the original villain, but with our writer (FL) being inside the story as HQG, the story is changed completely. The wife who should be dead is alive and her presence influences our hot villain making him go soft. Also, her interference affects all the other characters as well. So I guess, JC is no longer the hated villain, but the ML, the hero of the story. So the ML of the original story (SML) most probably is the villain now. I guess one of the reasons for him to turn evil might be FL. He is head over heals for his sister - in - law and his bro is a nuisance he has to get rid of somehow.
