Extremely fun, relaxing show, I enjoyed every second of the first two episodes. Really good chemistry between the leads so far. I love mother Lin. No wonder they tried suppressing it for so long. I have read the book and the changes are fine, necessary to give the show depth.

But I have to say it's funny they chose HJY and YY as some epic actors when both are considered at best mediocre in China and both are considered to have extremely limited emotional range. They can't even troll competently lmao

What is funny is that supposedly GYY faked it to get her love. Sorry what? She is a literal nobody. No education, illiterate, no job prospects and with a kid from a one night stand and someone like GYY has to sacrifice his principles for her? After he raised her up from that mud she was in? Say what again? And she raised her son to act that way. Son who would be feeding pigs instead of getting into Tsinghua thanks to GYY. Always remember GYY had no biological children because of this kid (one kid policy).

He was saddled with two ingrates and wasted decades over them. Btw, netizens are beyond angry. They keep demanding a divorce and GYY ending the show as a golden bachelor.

Since we are at the end, and the writer is smoking something terrible, for well known reasons, I have decided to write my own ending. Last episode doesn't exist and...

GYY divorces and finally dumps the two white eyed wolves, the ingrates he got saddled with and sacrificed for. He then shows the middle finger to the army too, the corrupt nepotism heaven that it is and leaves for the States. He there cashes in on his huge education and intelligence becoming stinky rich, marries his soulmate and has a properly raised kid with her while living happily ever after. The end.

The best part of this show, apart from poor GYY is reading netizens eviscerating this. Awesome fun.

Nothing was fixed but the billing so XZ's parts remain cut and the propping of HJY remains through the roof until now.

The problem is that GYY is the one shining part of this show. HJY can't act to save his life but it's not helped by a terrible character arc and story he was given. That's what always happens with resource cafes like him, the plot goes to hell.
It's why rating these is difficult. On one side, the potential this show had was immense. The production was obviously good and there are moments of brilliance. On the other side, there is the ridiculous GL line due very obvious reasons we know well.

I am not going to rate this show at all out of respect for XZ and the fact he was cheated, which is not something he could control because if I did, it would be low. So while not a perfect solution maybe, I at least feel at peace.

One of my many regrets. They fit so well and the writer doesn't have to force it, like they are forcing it with AX. AX and a person like GYY have nothing in common, the plot is so forced because the writer backed himself into a corner there, knowing he must give a happy ending. And of course, JNZ has been shown time and again that she doesn't get him at all. Not to mention that BL is easily the much superior actress that blows the other two out of the water.

Maybe one day XZ and BL will act together again as leads, I would love to see that.

OOL will carry Mirror Cities, it makes sense to air it. Don't forget that MTC and YGY are connected.

It's because the show was cut to shift around for capital demands. You can't hope for coherency when you do things like that.

Don't you know? This show was heavily edited after it was filmed. A lot of GYY scenes were removed in order to push HJY's character forward. GYY was the main character before the chopping block, before additional GL scenes were filmed and before the billing was shifted around to make HJY the only lead of the show (the only thing that was fixed it seems). All the leaks before it aired said that the further we go into the show, the fewer minutes GYY would have. We can only hope that he will have a bit more towards the end.

I hope that in the future, however much time GYY has on screen, it is dedicated to his career. This is supposed to be military drama, not an idol drama and I want to see his work, not this rubbish love sacrifice plot. Give me his career show!

Yes, sacrificing himself for AX is not a good plot point because it's being portrayed as some great positive thing while it is anything but. It's retrograde thinking that has led to so much tragedy.

But at least it gives me nice discussion material. I can tell to myself that in the end, it fits GYY because the one thing that remains for him is the army. His whole character has been surrounded by loneliness and the only thing that he can expect from this marriage is being even more alone. AX is not a woman who can follow GYY in any way. She can never be a companion as a partner in life should. At least not realistically, though I am sure the writers will write them as happy lmao

But in this loneliness, the one true companion GYY will always have is the army. So I look at it through that lense.

I like the character of GYY but the writing for this drama is pretty bad overall.

They won't because GYY scenes were cut on purpose to make sure GL took over. Take comfort China at least changed some of the rules after this fiasco so it will be a little be harder to do this to people again and XZ will certainly have iron tight contracts in the future.

It's not believable for me so unfortunately that ship has sailed.

GL has shown his true colors. There is nothing that says that next time GYY has something that GL wants, he won't behave the same or worse. It doesn't actually matter that we probably won't see that because GL character has been established. He is only a friend as long as he doesn't want something GYY has.
